Fightman's Build Thread

Snow is my least favorite thing, but you kinda get used to it. As for mods.... Nothing fun.... Maybe a new rad, and a tranny flush.... Kinda watching my money right now, job cuts at work... So kinda worried about that right now. Besides, saving for a lift and Tires for my 05 Taco....

Wow Rob, how much snow is that? Now I see why you do all that work to the undercarriage. No pics of the Tacoma with the new rims?

I am at a conference for accounting supply management (it makes boredom look fun) in Jacksonville FL. About 82 degrees and sunny. No fishing with the 25mph winds though. I'll take warm weather though all year long.
 
I hate you just for the amount of snow you still keep on getting.:rockthrow: the snow here was short lived and I didn't have enough time to play in it.
 
No pics of the Taco with the rims... still need to get rubber for them.... and gotta lift it too! ;) Spending some money on the old house right now... so lift and tires gotta wait til at least the spring! lol!

In the meantime... I'm just enjoying driving them both! ;)

P.S: We got about a foot of snow in one day..... then it rained all day the next 2 days, and the roads have been closed today. Just hoping to make it to work in the AM.... Apparently the highways are skating rinks right now with ice covering some of them!
 
Update..PanHard bracket...?

I'm curious about how the PanHard drop bracket is holding up? Sorry for being lazy and not reading through it all...

As some of you may know, (if you read the "What did you do to your 3rd Gen" thread.... I had to replace my Post Cat. O2 Sensor. The damn thing gave me a hard time, as it was rusted up pretty good! (I can't put grease there... lol!)

Started to see the studs twisting and wanting to snap... so posted up my frustration on that thread... and on Facebook! lol! A buddy of mine, chimed in on Facebook and suggested I cut off the top nut, as my studs were uber long, and most likely had tons of usable thread beneath the 2 oversized spacer threads.....

So in came the Cut-off Wheel and dremmel!!

Pain in the ass job but glad it all worked out for you in the end.. So good job! How's the rig running now?
 
You are one lucky SOB man, when I helped undoing my brothers Tacoma's upstream 02 sensor, it was beyong help even with the whole exhaust piping down the ground. I can imagine your frustration doing it from under the rig.

Glad you got it all figured.
 
It was a bit of a pain... especially when you have dirt and grease falling in your face! lol! I had safety glasses on... but still managed to get stuff in my eyes TWICE! lol! Good thing I'm a trained First Aid attendant.... got that crap out of my eye PRONTO! lol!

After getting this job done... I attempted to wire my grill lights on the Taco, so I could have it running off my highbeam switch in the cab.... but didn't have my trusty buddy over, and couldn't figure out how he wired up my 4Runner's... so I was out of luck! lol!

I then tried to get another lighting project done, but realized that the LED bulbs I got from E-bay, require some sort of Resistor installed, so they don't burn out! :(

Looks like I'm going to be looking at another option for that... so stay tuned to my Taco Build for that update! :D
 
When I have studs that are rusty like that, I usually put a small, like very small, dab of anti-seize around the threads, then barely over torque the nuts so that next time the job is much easier.

Lee didn't provide schematics for ya?

Post some pics of the lights when completed.
 
Wow! That looked like a lot of work. I was cursing when I did mine because it took a bit of time to get the plug undone. And by a bit of time, I mean like 5 min.
 
hey fightman, you can turn over the poorman dremel :P "Jobmate " :lookout::) from canadian tire :P I have that same one! at $9 on sale i could not justify buying a $70 tool that does the same thing ...

No schematics... actually messaged him twice, asking for directions... but I think he was too busy lowering his CRV.... lol!

It took me 2 days! Just kidding... I started the job though around 4pm one day, then had dinner.... went with Lee to get an Aircompressor, and ended up having a few beers with my neighbor in HIS garage.... putting a lift kit on his Kawasaki Quad! Next morning, I got to to work on finishing the 02 Sensor... lol!

Yeah.... got the Jobmate from my Father In-law for Christmas one year.... it's gotten tons of use! Also got a complete kit with all the different attachements... including buffing and cutting disks, barrel sanding attachments... etc... :D
