Front brake replacement

Well, that time has come again..... rotors are finished, and picked up some Ceramic brake pads as well. Hoping to tackle this tomorrow.... after the wife's appointment with the Orthopedic Dr....

No.... they are not Tundra parts.... I goofed 4 years ago, and bought brand new 4Runner Calipers... Didn't really know the benefits of the Tundra swap back then... and can't justify swapping out perfectly good calipers now...

I have never heard of anyone LOWERING a CRV. I have to ask why? Autocross?

Unless you tow (you have the Tacoma) or wheel often off road, the Tundras are not mandatory. But they are nice, and would stop Mean Green with more authority.

HA HA! He wanted to be different.... the CRV is actually slammed... with black chalkboard paint! Looks pretty cool... and definitely original! lol!

I agree with you about the Tundra brakes... after doing my original replacement of the rotors a few years ago.. I found the 4Runner brakes to be more than adequate. Still do... only reason I'm replacing them is one rotor is severely corroded, and bubbled out.... damn Northern Ontario winters! lol!

Wow Rob! That is something. Props to Lee. If you have any more pics, post them. It is not my cup of tea, but I am impressed with the work. I would think that snow would be quite the obstacle to avoid with it.

Wish the pic was current.... but took the 4Runner to town today to bring the wife out and watch GI Joe: Retaliation!

Still haven't done the brakes or the bearing yet.... but planning on doing the brakes tomorrow! I promise!

Also, got my LED's for the Taco's Gauge Cluster.... hoping to meet up with my cousins hubby, and get them soldered in tomorrow sometime!

Looks like I'm a liar!

I haven't done the brakes yet... Been really crappy weather wise, and since I don't have a ton of money floating around right now... I've been putting the brake job off, in case I break some parts in the process.

That being said.... I did take advantage of the nice weather we got yesterday.... and repainted my rusty tire carrier. (It's a process I go through every spring... lol)

While I was at it... I repainted the hash marks on my TRD emblem... anyone else having issues with the red/white paint coming off???

New pads and rotors

Finally got around to doing the front brakes on the 4Runner! Driver side gave me a hard time, as one of the pistons were seized..... but I got it free, and finally got it all buttoned up!



Passenger side went together nicely!



And of course... I had my little helper hanging out with me, when she got out of school today!

Very nice. No Tundra upgrade? Do you have any problems with rusting on those rotors?

I do like Lee's CRV. It reminds me of a ride out of the "Mad Max" or "Resident Evil" movies.

No Tundra Upgrade. Those Calipers are only 4 years old.... didn't want to replace them, just because. I'm doing this on a budget too.... bought those rotors and pads for under $150.00.

Lee's car is pretty cool.... best part... he bought it for $300.00! He's added a ton of parts to it.... including a new V-Tech head, and some go fast parts. He's also got an Integra that he picked up for $300.00! lol! Dude finds deals everywhere! lol!

Not a good day..... spent the better part of the day washing and waxing the truck.... then when almost done..... a momentary distraction (kids.. contemplating running into the street), had me let go of the polisher... and the damn thing tumbled down... making 3 small dings in the roof, hood, and top of the driver side fender!

hey fightman how are these ATE rotors compared to the last set? I passed on these at CDN tire and got the certified brand for $18 a side, 10,000km on them and so far so good, I noticed the brake pad impression one side so I'll be changing out pads soon, how are the ceramic pads?
