Definitely a great job on those. I too want to see them on the rig.
Common man! You know how much work it is to jack up all 4 corners, and swap all of those out....only to take a picture and then put them back!
Now do that overhaul with your pro comps and you'll be set!!!
JK, I guess chrome is nice too..
Yeah....that's what I hear....I wonder why??? I ran my Bighorns on a snow trail last year and had no problems....actually the snow cleaned out of them nicely..........any info on why they would not make a good snow tire???
Mud tires do ok in deep snow, or fresh unpacked snow, because it's kind of like mud. It'll clean out, and you have some bite. However, for most winter driving on roads with packed snow, ice, sleet, slush whatever...those big tread blocks are slippery like snot. There are not enough biting edges to give good traction. That's why snow tires have a million sipes....more edges, more traction.
My previous BFG M/T's were siped, and it helped A LOT in the snow and on wet, slick surfaces.. Buy yourself a siper (also called a carting groover) on eBay, and sipe your center tread blocks. Well worth the $50 of the siper, and the time to do it.
Interesting....I was thinking about getting these tires studed....as they already have the factory locating holes in them....gonna see how much for both....and pick the cheapest alternative.
To tell you the truth, I don't plan on driving her that much this winter, just don't want to ride in it looking dorky with those 245's and my 3" + of lift! HA HA HA! Last year, I think I only took her out maybe 6 times from the end of November til April.........drove the wifes Impala everyday!
Loved the looks of the wheels. I must say that I am not a big fan of the 97 3 "double spoke" wheels but it looks killing in that color.
Question about tire studs: they are just inserted into small holes in the tire block, right? Or are they actually glued? I always wondered if one rev it up, lets say, to redline, if the studs would fly off the tires...
