Fightman's Build Thread

Definitely a great job on those. I too want to see them on the rig.

Common man! You know how much work it is to jack up all 4 corners, and swap all of those out....only to take a picture and then put them back! lol!.......................I'll probably do it on Thursday....I'm curious too! he he he!

Thanks man! BTW, it's my day off today....10am....and I'm just heading out to take some pics of the new wheels and Tire package on the truck........:bluejump:

Pics of the Truck with her NEW SHOES!

So, I gave in to peer pressure! :bash: :jk: After reading all of your comments, I was now very curious to see how they would look mounted on my truck.

I took Braziliant4r's advice, and only did the driver side......ha ha!

I think overall, it looks pretty good. I still prefer my Procomp Wheels and Bighorns, but these will look so much better than this:

What do you guys think??

I love the wheels! :bravo:

However, if these are your winter setup...those tires are going to suck in the snow and ice....

Yeah....that's what I hear....I wonder why??? I ran my Bighorns on a snow trail last year and had no problems....actually the snow cleaned out of them nicely..........any info on why they would not make a good snow tire???

Now do that overhaul with your pro comps and you'll be set!!!

JK, I guess chrome is nice too..

Ain't happening! HA HA HA! I like my Polished Aluminum wheels much more than I like painted ones....not to mention.....the Polished Aluminum's finish will be much more durable....a little Autosol polish and all is new again....chip in the paint = more paint to buy, etc....

But thanks for the compliment Ripcord.....it's always an honor to get great feedback from someone who has such a sweet rig!

Mud tires do ok in deep snow, or fresh unpacked snow, because it's kind of like mud. It'll clean out, and you have some bite. However, for most winter driving on roads with packed snow, ice, sleet, slush whatever...those big tread blocks are slippery like snot. There are not enough biting edges to give good traction. That's why snow tires have a million sipes....more edges, more traction.

My previous BFG M/T's were siped, and it helped A LOT in the snow and on wet, slick surfaces.. Buy yourself a siper (also called a carting groover) on eBay, and sipe your center tread blocks. Well worth the $50 of the siper, and the time to do it.

Interesting....I was thinking about getting these tires studed....as they already have the factory locating holes in them....gonna see how much for both....and pick the cheapest alternative.

To tell you the truth, I don't plan on driving her that much this winter, just don't want to ride in it looking dorky with those 245's and my 3" + of lift! HA HA HA! Last year, I think I only took her out maybe 6 times from the end of November til April.........drove the wifes Impala everyday!

If I were running a dedicated winter tire, I'd stud them for sure. Just for that reassurance on black ice. The roads can get sketchy in the northern climes.

Yeah, I'm all about big tire and small sturdy truck. I get a lot of fun looking at the candy-assed trucks around here that are Ram 2500s or Ford 250s with lift, and they have these sissy little tires on them. Kind of like having a big fat gut and a small ****.

Loved the looks of the wheels. I must say that I am not a big fan of the 97 3 "double spoke" wheels but it looks killing in that color.

Question about tire studs: they are just inserted into small holes in the tire block, right? Or are they actually glued? I always wondered if one rev it up, lets say, to redline, if the studs would fly off the tires...

I'm not entirely sure, but I think they are glued in here. As a matter of fact, it was actually ILLEGAL to have studded tires in Ontario until recent years. I think because of the potential for them flying off, and they even sited pavement damage.....:moon:

I think I might go this route, but still have to look into pricing.
