The grille was my first mod on mine. Ditched the chrome and had it painted black. Now I have the black '01 grille and it looks even better

Yea, chrome really doesn't do it for me.
Good news and bad again...
Bad news: I'm sure most of you heard about the tornadoes in my backyard last night. The 4Runner was nicely tucked away in the garage but it did slow my progress. I got the grill in from Toyota and I went to put it on after I had given it a nice rub down with some wax. Then I realized that I didn't have any clips! :crybaby:
I ordered the clips today and they will be here Saturday. Until then, I'm driving without a grill
Good news: I got the transmission cooler all hooked up. Man, does that thing get hot in a hurry! I also got the taillights installed! I listed the stock tails in the classifieds if anyone is interested.

A few members on here have used zip ties instead and say that they prefer it because it holds the grille tighter. Plus it's cheaper and easier
I went with the DDMTuning.com kit. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll get pictures as soon as it's installed.
Time for an update
I got the clips on Saturday ($4) OTD and put the grill on as soon as I got home (pics to come). After I got the grill on, it was time for the emblem. I went to put it on and realized that it has to be screwed in from the back!
A quick trip to Lowe's to get the right screws and the emblem was on as well :banana:
So fast forward to today:
WOW What a pain in my ass the front diff drain plug was!!!!!
I drained/filled the rear diff first. Had to drop the spare but there was plenty of room to get under it without jacking the truck up. Then on the the transfer case. Pretty simple and still an ample amount of room. Then on to the front diff, 10mm hex, hmmm...
The fill plug came out pretty easy with a cheater bar on the ratchet. The drain plug, however, was not so easy. Every time I thought I was making some progress, it was the actual drain plug stripping :lasercannon:
After a phone call and a with the help of a friend and his welder, we got that ***** :gun4:
Obviously your local auto parts doesn't carry these ginormous plugs but I figure why would I replace it with a new one that I'll have to remove the same way...
So, back in she went

Time for an update.
Here are some pictures of the new grill with the emblem installed. I also installed the Tacoma skid plate. I know some of you guys like it close to the bumper but I installed it even to the "fat lip". I taped a few pieces of string to the end of the "fat lip" and drilled holes in the brackets. I love the way it turned out
I also picked up a set of 13WL calipers, rotors and lines from an 04 Tundra from a local junkyard for $100
This weekend's plans include brakes, clay bar and fuel filter. Hopefully I get my deckplate, HIDs and foglights in soon.

Well I heard a clunk from the front end yesterday and I looked under the truck when I got home. The driver's side endlink broke.
I'm going to pick up some replacement Moog endlinks from O'Reilys. Anyone know the size of allen key to fit in the stud? It seems like it's a 5.5mm but I didn't have one to confirm. Out of all my tools, it has to be the one I don't have!

I just thought I would warn you that Moog has absolutely gone to shit lately. I used to be a fan, but not any more. I just bought some Moog lower balls joints a few months a go and the rubber is cracked, grease leaking, and both of them are totally rusted over... and I live in CA! Many of my components on my suspension and steering are 13+ years old and they still look way better than the Moog parts that I just barely put on. STAY AWAY!!!! GET OEM!!!!!!!
No kidding? I always thought Moog had pretty good quality parts. That's a shame.
I would hate to go Duralast or some no name brand at different parts stores. The good thing about the Moog is there's a warranty.
Do people that go OEM have the reoccurring problem of breaking the endlinks again?

Just got back from picking up this baby on CL for $100
Now I'm trying to find ideas on where to mount it...

Depending on your lift, you may snap another OEM endlink. But then again since Moog sucks now, I'm confident that they would snap even easier. Your best best would actually be to get some Wabfab quick disconectng links (like Kregg has), or build your own.
Moog used to be good. Something happened recently and they've lost all their quality. Speaking of the Moog warranty, that's not all that great either because you can't get your money back!! - Only another shitty Moog part. I have to take my LBJs off, send them to Moog, pay for the shipping (all the while my truck will be inoperable), get them back and install them, then go pay for another alignment just so they can last another 3 months or so and I can replace them all over again. It's a wash to me, but I'll damn well talk shit on them so no one else will make the same mistake. Hopefullyif enough people speak up, they'll go out of business or improve their product.
It's a funny story. I got on craiglook.com and typed it Scan Gauge II and search the entire country. Only 4-5 posts come up and one was 4miles away from me in Broken Arrow (same town I live in). It was advertised for $125 but I told him I have $100. He agreed and I picked it up. Super nice guy too

The correct size is 6mm. The inside was rusted a little bit and the allen wouldn't fit so I thought it was a different size.
The start of 4Runner appreciate weekend has begun :frog:
My dad came over and we busted out the Porter Cable and polished and waxed the 4Runner.
The came came out amazing :wow2:
I took a couple closeups but they didn't transfer onto the computer correctly. The camera's batteries were about to die. I'll get some closeups tomorrow when I pull it out of the garage again.
I got the deckplate in today so that will go in tomorrow.
And of course, new pictures. This time of both my babies
