Finally found my 4Runner

Great find. Let me know if anyone ever goes out to Freeman Park. I go out there usually once a week now that the weather is nice.

Yeah my wifes car is black and it is a biotch to keep up so wasn't really looking for a black one, in fact just the opposite was sorta hoping for a white or very light colored one.
But now that we found this one I am actually glad its black, looks really good and the 2 black cars look good together in the driveway.

This one ended up being much better than I was even looking for.
Never thought in a million years we would find a 2002 Sport Edition in great shape with EVERYTHING already done to it.

Just got incredibly lucky.
 
Do you have any pics of the interior/seats Nunya? I have heard all about the Sport Edition seats on the '02's but never got a look at them, I was thinking about putting leather seats in my '98 but the Sport Cloth would probably be just as good.

edit: not sure if you mentioned if you have regular or sport cloth seats...

They are the "Sport Cloth" which is exactly what I wanted.
I do not like leather seats because for the most they are not really all leather anyway unless its on a Roll Royce or Bentley or some other insanely expensive car.
My wifes Lexus has "Leather" seats and the interior of the car still looks like brand new except for the so called leather seats, especially the drivers side around the bottom edges is cracking because it really isn't leather, its that "Pleather" manure.
The center is leather and it is OK but the Pleather is starting to crack.

Cloth seats are cooler, you don't slide around when bumping around off road, you don't sweat in them and they last longer.

I do not have a picture but I will go out right now and take a couple for you so you can see what they look like.
 
OK here are the seats.

I included a close up of the cloth, I have not seen this kind of cloth on the other 4Runners I had looked at so I guess this might be exclusive to the Sport Edition?
It appears to be very durable, the picture is from the seat area where pretty much the most wear would be and it still looks darn near new and its 9+ years old.
I took a pic of the back cargo mat also, that is really nice, can put anything in there and then just yank it out and wash it off with the hose and throw it back in.

Thats nice! The interior of my '98 looks like it was designed in 1976 - a fake Burberry if you will... The Sport Cloth is what all the 4Runners should have come equipped with.

The Weather Tech liners are great, I have the Huskey liners - about the same thing but $50 cheaper, they were the first thing I bought when I got my 4Runner.

Thanks, I was quite pleased.
Every other 4Runner I looked at over a 2 week period was not even remotely close to as nice, a couple were less money like $6500 & 7000 but they were like a 99' & 00' dead stock, no lifts, no mods, no nuttin and were averaging 30,000 more miles on them AND were not remotely as well maintained.

I was actually getting rather discouraged and thinking of ideas like maybe traveling to Oregon or someplace and driving it back cross country.

Then just on a whim clicked on the last link I was going to check for the night (2:30am) and had to do a double then triple take because I could not believe what I was reading.
Then started freaking out because I thought oh hell somebody else is going to get to this first and I am going to be :mad:

But got really lucky and was the first one to see it.
Truck was only listed for 5 hours before I sent an email, 4 hours after that he called, 3 1/2 hours after that I was there (180 miles away) with cash in hand.
Price was so good that I just said, tell me your bottom dollar, he did, I said SOLD!

Basically nothing, except for putting on rock sliders which are supposed to be here soon I assume.
and do a total fluid change, engine oil, ATF, Gear lube and radiator which I am doing today.

I might buy a Yakima Load Warrior cargo basket this year sometime when I see one on sale, other than that it is in great shape with really nothing to do but drive it.

I cant either especially after today, I just had all the fluids changed.
When we popped the pan off the transmission it was clean as whistle, the screen/filter was spotless, the 4 magnets on the bottom just had the tiniest little bit of very fine black metal dust and the ATF had not been changed for 65,000 miles.
ATF looked and smelled good, all the gear lube looked good and virtually no metal shavings on anything anywhere.

What you can see inside the radiator looks very clean absolutely no corrosion at all.

Nice find!

Any chance you could post (or PM me) details regarding the fluid swap? I recently purchased a 2000 4runner and am switching it to Amsoil. I've been running it in my other cars for a few years, so I'm somewhat familiar with the products. I'm just looking for some opinions on weights, etc. This being my first 4x4 there's a bit more to pay attention to and I want to do it right the first time.
