Finally Front Disco's That Work

I've been working on these with a member from the FJ Cruiser forum for the last month or so. He came to me with a design that had been available in Australia, but that company stopped making these.

The new front disconnects for the 4th, and 5th Gen's are now available. These will allow you to disconnect the front of your 4runners WITHOUT causing any damage to your CV's. Pull two pins and you're good to go.

Pictures are from an FJ Cruiser, but the 4runner's are the exact same.

Yep. The sway bar itself never actually flops around. I slides up and down on the center shaft. It'll never drop low enough to contact the CV. Once you're done wheeling, and get back to level ground you can put the pins back in.

Just after the pictures is pricing.

Non-Disconnect- Front/Rear @ $200 (Front or Rear $140)
Disconnect- Front/Rear @ $220 (Front or Rear $150)

Glad to see this option become available. I thought about this approach when doing my setup. Seems like it would work.

The advantage of it would be a quicker connect/disconnect plus the fact that the factory sway-bar remains intact. You could always go back to regular links.

Only downside I could think of was noise and the potential for some binding if things did not stay clean.

If my current setup gives me any issues I will give this a try.

You'll only have noise when they're disconnected. Obviously the heim and bushing sliding up and down will create some noise. Other than that they're pretty quiet. Keeping them clean will be key to longevity, but they'll hold up pretty well. These are the same heims that I've been using on the rest of my links with no issues.

This is them not installed. The only thing it's missing is the pin to disconnect. I won't have another picture like this until another set is made. Which shouldn't be too ling since the FJ guys are already PM'ing me.

Yes, except Jeeps are solid axle. The will allow you to disconnect the front to gain more flex, and not worry about the CV's getting damaged. Before these there wasn't a good way to disconnect the front. The sway bar itself would contact the CV, and would cause damage to the boot/cv itself.

I want to be sure that it is thick enough not to be sheared, which could cause sudden handling issues on road.

It's not going to shear. They're the same pins that I use on the rest of my disco's. This is set-up as a double shear so it'll be even harder for that to happen. I've yet to see it happen on any of my links.

I hope this isn't too stupid of a question. Will this work and fit on my '15 w/ KDSS? Also, I would want to make sure that KDSS doesn't over-extend. I don't have a lift yet, will be doing a 3/2 at this point. By work, I mean front and rear. Great job on the design!

Pretty sure these will not work with the KDSS system.

Doesn't the KDSS already function as an automatic disco system? Disconnecting the sway-bar during low-speed wheel drop situations?
