Yup, 3D printed. I ordered the grey steel one. Took about 3 weeks to get though. Here's the link.

3M tape should be fine. I wouldn't do anything crazy like drilling holes or irremovable adhesive.
When you eventually sell the vehicle, the buyer might not like them as much as you.

Use a wax and grease remover before you apply the badge. Note I said wax and grease remover, not solvent or denatured alcohol.
Wax and grease remover is totally paint safe. I also recommend you lay out your lines with painters masking tape before you apply something like this. If you prep the area properly, once you stick it on, it's not coming off w/o ruining the 3M tape.
After you mount it, use light heat from a heat gun or air dryer to warm it up and press snug to the body. Then wax around it to replace the wax you just removed.
Done properly you will get professional results and they aren't going anywhere.
And oh yeah, should you want to remove them, good plastic fishing line works great and will not damage your paint. A little from a heat gun and use the fishing line as a garrote behind the emblem.

Two of my favorite tools are first, my dremel, amazing what it can do, and second, my heat gun, cuz well it's just fun to use and occasionally melt things just for kicks.
Dremel not helpful for this thread of course.
OP, nice looking emblem, I like your version better than others I've seen on here.

I did exactly what you said actually. The difficulty is that this is a steel emblem, so its heavy. Washed the 4R yesterday and nothing fell off so I think we're good!

Yep, you should be good to go. 3M dual sided adhesive is pretty good stuff. You'd be amazed at how many OEM body things are stuck on with it (like side skirts and such).
Prep is everything.
And a piece of trivia:
3M stands for: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (three m's).

I was really curious how a metal version would come out. Looks cool, I did expect a little less texture (maybe its just the pic, the one on the truck looks much less)
How heavy is it?
Well I didn't weigh it, but I'd say it's definitely somewhere between 0 and .25lbs? Lol. Okay, probably less, but it's substantial in comparison to its plastic counterpart
