Finally own a 4runner

So early Saturday morning I flew from Columbia, SC to Philly, PA to pick up a 1999 4Runner from fellow member sno viking. Held the truck for me until I could schedule my flight, picked my son and I up from the airport, great guy to talk to and work with.

Because I am lazy I am just going to copy/paste the info from his ad

1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 Auto
248,000+/- miles (I put 800+ on this weekend)
Millennium Silver with Oak (tan) cloth interior

He has already one a lot of the upgrades and small things I would do and the list is too long for me to post all of it but here are some highlights

Suspension bushing and upper/lower ball joints were done with OEM around 150K
Differential/Transfer Oils done at 243k
Steering Rack Bushings done at 243k
Rear Brake Bell Cranks done at 237k
Front and Rear Brakes (Discs and Pads and Drums and Shoes) done at 235k
Spark Plugs and wires done at 219k
Fuel Filter done at 219k
Rear catalytic Converter, Muffler, and both O2 sensors done at 217k
Radiator and Transmission fluid replaced at 207k
Water pump and timing belt done at 187k

In talking to sno viking one thing that might be due to be done soon is the LBJs again

It will be used as my DD, camping vehicle, tow a small Jon boat, and kid and dog carrier.

My to-do list is pretty short considering everything prior owner did

Have the front two seats reupholstered and have heating elements added.
Change taillights to the 2001-2002 style
Backup camera

Outside of that not sure what else to do, if anything

So far really happy with the truck and look forward to a decade plus of ownership and daily driving!

I will add the trip to get it the truck and bring home was most of the fun. I have a 7-year-old and he has never flown before so I wanted to bring him so he could have his first flight. And on the way home we stopped by D.C., where neither of us had been before, and spent the afternoon. We went to the Smithsonian of Air and Space, saw Washington Monument, walked around downtown D.C, walked by the White House and Capitol Hill. He had a blast and was a great experience and time to share with him.

I'm looking at 3rd gen's in my area. They all have pretty high miles like yours.

If I'm not buying from someone as meticulous as the guy you bought from I would need to do all that maintenance right off the bat.

Lot of money if I took it to a shop. I can do a lot of it.

Lot of money if I took it to a shop. I can do a lot of it.

yeah I had a smaller budget to spend on vehicle bc how much I planned to do but finding one so cared for made it easy decision to spend more than I originally planned because of time and money it would save on the back end
