I'm in the market for a 3rd Gen right now, especially focused on the 99 and 00 limiteds. As I'm sure you all are well aware, the leather on the front seats of anything with over 120k are usually beat to shit - especially on the driver's side. I've looked up how to swap the seats - seems simple enough. I'm wondering what sort of options there are for replacement.
My first thought was to just get something from another 4runner in the local junkyard. Checking local pick and pulls, it seems like there are usually one or two limiteds at any given time. I'm assuming most of these are going to be beat up too, and it could take 10 or more trips before I find something good. So that could take a while. But I don't have much of a problem driving on a beat up seat for a while until I find a good replacement.
It seems like a lot of people just retrofit seats from other vehicles as well.
Are there any other solutions I'm missing?
Should I just hold out for those rare 4runners with low mileage and immaculate leather?
