All you have to do is take the cover off that covers the entire area, not just the shifter, you can't remove the shifter cover. There is the piece around the e brake, remove that, then remove the one that covers around the shifter.

To get to the bulb you have to look under shifter and you'll see it. Just give it a twist and it should come out.

I've taken the bulb out and replaced it, but I couldn't figure out how to open the compartment where the letters are, or where the bulb sticks into...know what I mean? I was thinking of an LED strip eventually or changing the color like you did.

Oh. I don't know how to do that. I haven't heard of anyone doing it either. That piece seems to be sealed pretty well.

So how did you make yours all red? By using one red LED?

its 3 LEDs and the whole gauge cluster comes out. take the 2 screws out from the underside of the gauge cluster out the steering column cover off, the panel under the steering wheel, and then the bezel around the ignition. there is 3 (i think) screws that hold the whole assembly in. carefully unplug all 5 elec. plugs in the back and then you can get to the lights. there is about 20 individual lights for the idiot lights. the three lights for your gauge cluster are behind the white cover on the back of the assembly. sounds like alot of work but its not too bad. get a haynes or chiltons manual, they are very helpful and have lots of pics hope thats a little helpfull. this might help http://s604.photobucket.com/albums/tt121/3rdgengrog/dash/

i just ordered mine! Fosheezy, i used your sizing you posted on yotatech for an 02 so hopefully its all good, i got white and red, so ya im excited! it should change a ton! i hate the faded green look, everytime i turn my lights on it shouts out Grandma! lol its amazing what LED's can do. ill post pics when i get em dun. the red looks sweet by the way!
