So I want to put a fire extinguisher in my car, not really sure where I should mount it I've gotten a few ideas from other threads. What I'm worried about most down here is the heat. In the summer it gets to +100F and the runner then becomes an oven for the thing. The last thing I want is to open the door and have extinguisher stuff everywhere in the rig. So with that said, what're y'all opinions on this? Anyone have experience with extinguisher and heat?

All shops, builds, ect. are required to have fire extinguishers on site per law.
A lot of these builds tend to have locations that will get as hot if not hotter than your ride.
Safe to say, no worries. Have one in my ride and it gets 100+ OUTSIDE, let alone the inside temp. Again, NO WORRIES.
But then again, you never know.

I mounted an extinguisher to the removable hatch which houses the tire jack. In addition I applied the fuzzy side of industrial Velcro for padding on the lower side. Initially I didn't' see the slight concave curve to the hatch. This resulted in not being able to fully seat the extinguisher to the mount. To correct this I added washers as spacers to the mount to push the extinguisher out. No issues with rattle or integrity.

I live in Texas also and have no problem. I would recommend that you get an extingusher with a metal head, not a plastic one. I have seen the plastic ones loose pressure over time. Mine is mounted in the rear cargo area just to the right of the deck lid. No fancy mount bracket, just a strip of velco thru the tie down hook and around the ext.

Given that they're designed to work in extreme heat, I would imagine most of them withstand heat very well. With that said, I definitely would read the label.
Because of the weather around here my school was let out 3 hours early. I figured I would go on with the mod because of that.
So all in all extremely simple unless your bad with a drill and don't like cuting into the interior panel and all that.
So I went to Walmart and bought a Car/Marine extinguisher by Kiddle. I thought I it would suit my needs appropriately and it was a dollar cheaper so what the hell why not.
I decided to mount it on the removable part that holds the jack in the rear cargo area.
I started by lining he holes up and marking them with a pencil. After that I double checked those holes cause I don't want to mess this up and have holes in the panel. Then I drilled.
Once I did this I immediately ran into a problem. I just wasn't really thinking right and drilled right under the lines that run across the back. The screw would fit but the washer and nut wouldn't. No problem though, I just took a steak knife to the back of it and made an area for it to fit.
I put the screws in and boom it fit,
After that I used a screw driver to screw in the panel that would hold the extinguisher
After that was done and it fit snug and tight I put the extinguisher on. It looks crooked I know, but it's straight when inside the car. I made sure of that before doing anything cause I'm OCD about that.
Finished product
Really happy with it, easy affordable and might come in handy in the future. My friends are giving me shit saying it was a waste of money and stupid, but it's better to have than to not!

Is that really secure though? I feel like that panel isn't on there very tight, would suck to get in a crash and be clocked by the fire extinguisher. lol

Don't get me wrong here, love the idea and installed one myself. Better safe than sorry and have one.
Next, test if you do go off roading, and more towards the extreme side of REALLY bouncing around. See if the door panel will stay put with that extra weight attached.
I was worried about that when I did mine, and it being in the way there also for the way I pack my truck up for trips.
Other than that, quite convenient/accesable location, and great addition.

I think you'll be fine. I've always had one in my truck and never had any problems and it gets up over 130 in the dark cars here in the summer.

You may want to give some thought to how you would actually use this. While the trunk mounts are popular, is that area very accessible? There are organizations that require a hard mounted fire extinguisher (for track days and such). It seems that there are two simple rules for that sort of thing:
1. Within arms reach of the driver
2. Metal-on-metal mounting point which can withstand a crash and not become a missile hazard.
On my other car it is attached to the front of the passenger seat mount with an aluminum bracket. Currently the one in my T4r is strapped down in the back until I can decide on a place up front to mount it.

Yes it is! It came with the car and I've debated throwing it out cause it's old and worn, but it's a good thing to have!
Now that y'all said it idk I might move it, but as of now my bumper is messed up so I'm not doing any off-roading cause I can't wash my car without paint chipping.
I'm considering mounting it into this piece. I know I wouldn't be able to open it then, but I don't really have a need for it anyways and at least that way I don't have to worry about it falling off or anything.. Just a thought not sure yet.
Also I know it's not very accessible, but I don't have anywhere up front to mount it without it being in the way and since I'm in Highschool I always have people in my car and a majority of them I don't want in arms reach of an extinguisher... Especially when they're drunk and I'm driving them around. No telling what they would do.

So, I guess putting it in a place like here is out of the question, HAHA.
It works for me and is out of the way of heads and all the stuff I put into the back to the roof.
I used much larger fender washers on the inside of the panel. And have been on EXTREME trail runs, no problem.
Edit... If your considering the wheel well area, you might consider the other side as there isn't a wall compartment your blocking on that side.

I'll add that those of you hanging these in the back of the truck may find it a bad place if you need it in a hurry. Nothing worse than seeing flames and having to jump out, open the back, reach for the fire extinguisher and then get to the fire. Best to have it within reach of the driver. Just saying...

I hear ya, if I could have enough room like my big rig, it would be next to the seat and door, but, to tight there in these rides.
At least I put mine up so when I have the back all loaded down, don't have to dig for it, and the kids playing with it.
And as CXS stated, if all possible, put in arms reach of the drivers seating area.
