Fire's Build

So just finished up downloading the entire FSM for a 2000 4Runner, figured it was a good investment considering I now have 2 of them. Now I can finish up wiring the remote starter since I have all the info I need.
 
1" body lift - DONE

Also got some wiring done, did the fog light mod and always on power outlets. I did mine a bit different from most as I did the wiring changes inside the factory fuse block so everything still looks totally stock.
 
sick taco you had and I am definately jealous of you having 2 runners. I have been tryingg to talk the wife into trading in the focus to get her one. Shes not having it.

Nice build so far. How good of quality are the antennas for the ham and cb? I had a small one for my cb and I couldn't get good reception at all with it. What brand and model are they?
 
They CB antenna is a Larsen, forget the model number but it's the only one they make for CB's. Unfortunately I can't comment on the reception of it just yet as I still haven't hooked the power up to the radio. I'm sure it will do just fine though as they make quality stuff not to mention my CB has been played with a little. :D The ham antenna is just a stand in right now, I typically run the Larsen 2-70 which has great reception.
 
So I finally made my mind up today. 35's will be going on once I finish collecting the funds. I've already got a set of 4.88's for the rear so need to pick up a set of gears for the front as well.
 
So first tire is on order. Figured I'd go ahead and get one in so I can start the cutting process. :D

Also just ordered up a bunch of maint. parts, stuff like plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, ohh and don't forget the ever important clutch pedal cover since mine is shot.

Take lots of pictures! I want to see how much work is really required to clear those beasts.

Oh yeah, they'll fit. Same tires I've got. I really like them.

Make sure to post a few pics in the "official 3rd gens with 35's pic thread" once you get them mounted.
 
Quick question for ya Bandit.... Can you still fully stuff the front and rear on yours? I know I'm going to be cutting up alot on these and I'm determined to make them totally stuff with out rubbing. Already planning out the firewall tub.

Yeah, I've stuffed them pretty good, and haven't had any rubbing. I didn't fully tub the firewall, but I did spend a good amount of time cutting and pounding on it.
 
Gotcha. I figure I'll have to tub mine since I'm only running 1" body lift where most of you guys are running 1.5". I've been doing most of my research on what the guys have done on the 1st gen Tacomas to run 35's since there are several of those guys doing it with no body lift at all. I guess time will tell though! :D
 
Couldn't take it.... Had to test fit it on the rear. Looks like I'll have to trim off the end of the bumper and make the bump stop a bit taller.

I've got it mounted on the front now. Gonna have to do quite a bit more work there.
 
I got the drivers side front pretty close to ready today. It took acouple long hours of beating the crap out of the firewall but I managed to make it fit without cutting any of it up. It will require chopping just the very corner off the cab mount though as the biggest lugs will contact it at full stuff and full lock. The only thing that it rubs at full stuff and full lock when I'm done will be the frame, but there's not much I can do about that. It's smooth enough not to cause any damage to the tires anyways.

I also got the fender trimmed however it was dark by then so no pics of that yet.

There's at minimum 1/4" of clearance all around, most places more that that though.
 
Also wanted to add a note for future reference..

This is setup with 315/75 R16 MTZ's, 1" body lift, stock 5 star wheels and 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers.
 
Got the corner of the cab mount chopped today, and got some new sealant applied to all the seams since they all broke loose from hitting on it. I'll throw on a new layer of undercoating tomorrow and button it all up.
