Thanks! Yea it's the digital controls on the Limited that are finicky, mine work just fine. If it wasn't such a job I would probably just replace the digital stuff with the manual controls.... I'm a KISS kind of person believe it or not.
 
For the climate control limited edition, IIRC, there is a film behind the buttons themselves that wears down and sticks which is why you get the intermittent problems. Hot temperatures could make the issue worse causing the film to spread or grease.

Honestly without looking at the unit itself, i would say if you can get to the back of the buttons and clean them up with some alcohol and a q tip then try it. Maybe even put some sort of homemade film on there afterward.

In my experience with electronics if there are no mechanical switches or things that can stick on the board itself than most likely it is something not directly related to the component level stuff.

Yea basically the way these work is there is the actual plastic button that you push, then that in turn presses a small momentary button on the circuit board. I tried it without the plastic buttons in place by just pushing the actual buttons on the circuit board and it seemed to be just as intermittent as before so I'm not really sure what causes the problem.
 
Not that I noticed. If I have it apart again I'll snap some pictures and post up. It's a strange setup in the fact that there'e the initial circuit board with the buttons and LCD display on it, then that runs through a small ribbon cable to a rear circuit board which seems to house more of the actual components than the front board does. I tried playing with the ribbon cable thinking maybe that would be the culprit but nothing seemed to change the functions.
 
Yea it works great. Really comes in handy being as though we live in a more rural area that has spotty cell coverage.

Same here, especially where we wheel we can go the entire trip without any network coverage. I guess that's a good and bad thing.
 
Yea I'd much rather have service, I can always leave my phone turned off if I don't want to be bothered, of course owning your own business means that your phone is constantly ringing at all times. lol
 
So thanks to my great wife and good buddy I now have a complete lift ready. Consists of new Tundra adjustable 5100's, Tundra front coils, LC front coils for the rear and new 5125's. Now all I need to round up are some spacers and some new tires. :D

Will those switches fit in the factory cutouts as well? I just ordered a few OEW switches for those holes, but like that style better.

Also can't find that panel on their website anywhere.

EDIT: Found the panels. Oops :)

They will fit in the factory cutouts, not a perfect fit but it does work and you'd never know after there installed.
 
Nice... I've been there before. When I got my '97 my wife (then girlfriend) decided she wanted a 4Runner too. We looked for awhile and ended up finding one that was the exact TWIN to mine, except hers had a locking rear diff and some upgrades.

Unfortunately she totaled it shortly afterward. Hopefully your new addition lasts longer than ours did. Do know, however, that these vehicles hold up very well in a collision, so you can feel confident that you and your wife are about as safe as it gets in a mid-size SUV.

I'm saving for a lift, but will be re-doing my entire light setup soon with distro blocks and new switches. Beautiful.
 
I've found that some of the information out there about what wires to use aren't correct. I'm keeping track of everything though so if you decide to do one just let me know.
 
I have a solution to make those two boringly identical 4runners distinguishable! I'll trade you my SR5 textured black flares for one of the sets of your silver flares. I'll even throw in some extra money for the deal. doesnt that sound like a good plan?
 
Lol. They won't be identical for long. Her's will stay stock while mine will be getting the full treatment over the next year or so. Front and rear bumpers, sliders, crawler, solid axle swap and 37's. Not to mention quite a few other small goodies to make wheeling and camping more enjoyable. :D
