First 4Runner

Finally hit the 15 post count so I could introduce myself...

I lurked the forums here for awhile during my research and shopping phase, thanks for all the GREAT info! After looking around a bit, I finally got a 4Runner. Well, make that TWO 4Runners?!?

Went to look at one and upon arrival found it was 2WD not 4x4, when I explained I wasn't interested, the seller kept dropping the price. I ended up getting it not sure what I'd do with it. Finally found a 4x4 and the 2WD is ending up to be a GREAT donor.

I still have a 24 & 52 CEL code I need to resolve but otherwise it's been a good start.

Swapped both the front & rear bumpers since the donor ones were in much better shape

I got my bike racks installed (MOST IMPORTANT ) then removed the running boards.

The rear had air bags and the schrader valves were rusted to the bumper that I swapped out so I had to cut the lines. I have a couple new valves on the way so I can level it back out. Otherwise, the exterior is complete (for now) with the exception of a good cleaning.

Man the paint looks great on both of those !

The pictures are deceiving. The red one is losing the clear coat and is not in very good condition. The white one is better but definitely has some spots on the back quarters where the paint is starting to crack. It's fine for what they are, something to tinker with.

Speaking of tinkering, I got a few more cosmetic things done before I try to off-load the donor.

Swapped the red 4runner passenger seat upholstery with the white one's driver seat. Now, both front seats in the white one are in really good shape.

Finally got my schrader valves for the air bags; got everything plumbed back up and the truck is level now.

The power antenna in the red truck still worked and the one on the white one was broken off so I swapped those out as well. Now I can listen to the radio without STATIC!!

The passenger side door panel vinyl was torn on the white one, so I swapped the one from the red one in. It's looking much better in there now. Just got to get the two codes sorted

I had a few minutes to tinker this morning... If you look at the first driver's seat photo above, you can see the center console lid has a rip where your elbow would go. Bummer that the donor truck console lid had a broken hinge

...but then I noticed the console lid separates into two halves so I put the good top on the good bottom and installed it back in the 4x4. Turned out pretty good!!

It's always good to see a second gen getting some love! That's pretty sweet to have a parts truck for your ride. Those interior parts are worth their weight in gold.
