First Car

Hey guys, as you can probably assume, i'm new here. I got a '94 T4R about 6 months ago from my parents. It is pretty much stock except for a new front bumper the previous owners gave us. I also really want to get my 4Runner in shape for some off-roading, we don't have any boulder climbing spots but that's alright. But the thing is that I have no idea where to start. I'm currently on a part-time McDonalds paycheck so it is all going to be slow but I do want a general idea of what upgrades or modifications I should do. Thanks a lot in advance guys. :D

On a limited budget, I'd start with tires. Ones with a good Offroad tread pattern. Then start saving for the next thing, a suspension lift.

Thanks for the input, I have 4 PA100 tires and another as a spare. What would be a good replacement for them? They are still relatively new.

Welcome to T4R! I agree with fourwd1, but since ur tires are new, I'd say run 'em as long as u can. In the meantime start saving for a lift(Old Man Emu 2") and some new rubber. Some BFG A/Ts will be perfect for ur needs. Good luck kid! :D

Checkout Toytec. They're one of the vendors on our site. They have what u need. On the OME site its probably listed under Hi-Lux Surf.

Oh wow, $640, that seems like a lot of money. Or is that just the norm? Two more questions, I have the V6 3L manual-tranny and when I let off the gas, the car kind if jerks. Could this be the fuel injectors needing to be cleaned? Aso does 14.8mpg city sound right?

Though I'm not experience with the 3.0, I would expect better gas mileage. I would do plugs, wires and air filter, along with an oil change.

Next, I would see if I could sell those tires on CL and buy some all terrains in a larger size. Many threads on here to tell you how big you can go w/o a lift.

On another note: Great Falls, MT?

Yes I live on Malmstrom. As for plugs, do you mean spark plugs? And I've been meaning to get into my air filter but I just havent. Also, I tried to do a tire rotation but something into the middle of the wheel was stopping me from taking it off after I took off the lugnuts. I was worried it was something with the 4x4 so I just stopped messing with it.
