First gen power window problem

I have a problem with power windows in my '87 4Runner. The problem is that I don't have power windows.
I do have access to a set of doors that have them and the wiring and switches though. THe windows however are different. Mine have the small quater windows and the others are full windows. Can I mount all the power hasdware to my windows and tracks or do I have to use the full size windows? If that is the case, can I even convert them to full size windows? I don't have the doors yet to compare and if I can't do it then I won't buy them. I thought about switching the whole door but mine are mint and the doner ones are a bit on the rusty side. Might make good half doors someday though.

You might be able to, but it's easy to convert to the full size window.

that's what I did with mine

The door shells are the same 2WD/4WD, truck or 4Runner. All the guts will transfer over. You remove the pillar for the wing window, swap the inner gasket and track, etc. It's easy, maybe a little time consuming at the most.

Thanks for the quick reply. That makes me feel better about putting in the power windows. I always find it to be a pain in the a$$ leaning over to put up the passenger window just before hitting the mud or water. Do you know if the truck is pre wired for them? It would make life a lot easier wouldn't it.

My truck already had pwr windows, I moved them over to some doors from a 2WD truck that had manual windows with the wing vents. Then I made the smashed up original doors into half-doors. So if you didn't have pwr windows to begin with, you may not have the wiring stock.

If it's not there it can be modified. Going to put in power locks and an alarm at the same time. Thanks again for the input.

power windows sound like a good thing but they can be a PITA. I've had nothing but problems with mine and as the truck gets older it only gets worse. something to consider before spending a bunch of time to swap them in.

That is a good point but I am used to power windows and would really love to have them in the truck. I do plan on keeping all of the old parts "just in case" though. Thanks for the input.

Re hashing an old post ... Just picked up the doors on the weekend and they have power locks in them too, even got the power mirrors and the controller. The doors are not in the best condition but everything I need is there, even the inner doorskin with the window controllers that will match my interior. I am just hoping the truck was pre-wired, I will find out tonight.

Yeah, that's what I miss about my 89 4runner. It had Power everything. locks, windows, mirror, antenna.
When I bought my 84 back, I had forgotten that it only has power windows and a power antenna.

I thought about swapping the power options over, but I gave up.
