First gen tail gate window doesn't roll up/down with key

We restored the license plate light bar.

The PO had those plugs disconnected, maybe because he was having problems with the rust?.


the lights work after the restoration, but I can't find what to do with that connector pointed with the red arrow.
Beside that, I can't roll up/down the tail gate window from outside using the key (but it works with the center console switch). Maybe it's related with that little connector?

Please, guide me to solve this issue.

I didn't open the key cylinder yet because I think my problem's another modification the PO did. You can see that connector pointed with a red arrow (my first post, third photo), I really don't know what to do with it.
Looking at photos of other licence plate harnesses, I just noticed that they don't have that connector. So my question's why the PO did this mod. I guess I have to undo what he did and try again. Suggestion?

All my wiring appears to be correct. I have another relay box to try, but haven't yet.

Update:
I reconnected that blue wire pointed with an arrow you can see in one of the photos above. I try the key in the rear gate and the window rolled down a few cm and stopped. After that I checked the terminals inside the connectors and they were rusted/corroded. I removed one by one, cleaned and installed them again. The window rolls up/down perfectly now.

I still don't know why the PO disconnected that wire...

Check the connectors inside the terminals, mine were corroded, after cleaning them (see page BE2 and BE3 of the FSM), everything works good.

If that doesn't work for you, check the wires under the rubber which cover the key cylinder, maybe you need to re solder them.
If that's doesn't solve your problem, I'd do what Bad_Vision suggested, clean the contacts inside the key cylinder.

The terminals at the relay box are a good start, but if those check out it is likely the wiring to the key cylinder itself. In my case, the wiring from the key cylinder to the motor had cracked and failed. Just needed to be re-cut and connected.

I'm also just having this problem

My rear window has never worked from the switch I've always had to use the key in the back. But now it's stopped. I know it's not the breaker in the front and it was rolling up flawlessly before it stopped. I'm wondering what I need to check for corrosion.
