First month review

Bought my 2017 SR5 from a Toyota dealer one month ago. 20k miles on the odometer, ove added 2,000 more.
1,200 was freeway, vacation, roadtrip. The rest was commute & offloading.
Fuel mileage. Not a priority for me, but it is better that my pickup, just doesn't have the same 6000 mile range (3 tanks onboard).
Horsepower/torque. More than adequate for me. If I need to tow something we have a couple of pickups. Acceleration is fine. If I want to go fast I have a motorcycle (or 2). Turn off traction control and do burn outs.
Headlights. Fine once I aimed them correctly. I will be adding a light bar on the roof and ditch lights.
The ride is comfortable, ergonomics suut me. The footwell got a bit cramped on the roadtrip, but I'm used to my 18-wheeler. I do see the benefit when offroading.
All in all there's nothing I don't like about it. I do wish it had a solid front axle. A tradeoff in ride comfort I'd be good with.
Future plans are the above mentioned lights, moving the spare tire from underneath, and full armor underneath. I live in rural AZ. Many of our "streets" are inaccessible with 2wd.
I'm a happy T4R owner (still like my old Fords).

For some reason, I don't like the "zig-zaggy" shifter. I see the theory behind it, but I still don't like it. Our Dodge Magnum has the same thing.
The headlight indicator is backwards. The green icon comes on when the headlights are on. Every other vehicle has the green icon lit when the headlights are off.
I'm glad that it's just a couple of little things. I'm glad I bought the truck.

I don't like it either- our 2011 FJCruiser - same engine, same transmission, has a better shifter system IMO.

I've now had my 4runner one year. It has met all my expectations and then some.
My only complaints (too harsh a word) is the zig-zag shifter. I can see the reasoning behind it, still don't like it. Our Dodge Magnum has the same thing, not fond of it either.
The door panel doesn't fit my leg. A comfort thing on long trips. I may attempt making one.
Did my first 'real' offroad trek today with a 4-wheeling club. All Jeeps and side by sides. I went everywhere they did. Had a little difficulty in one spot due to driver inexperience. But with some guidance I made it up the grade of large rocks. Everyone guided the person behind through this canyon.
Bullhead City, AZ "the Narrows" - YouTube That section was about a half mile long. We had lunch at the dead end then headed back through.
