First Oil Change and warranty

I friends, I bought my 4Runner on 30 Sept 2004 and today I have only 5500 Km and I forgot to change the Oil.

Now, reading the manual, it says 6 months whichever comes first!

I don't want to loose my warranty for a stupid oil change since my 4Runner has been in my garage most of the time.

What do you guys think about? anybody in my same condition?

How the hell would they (dealer) be able to tell? Dont worry about and just dont forget to change the oil in the future...

what's to say you didn't change it yourself in your own garage... or at another dealership.... They can't really prove that you DIDN'T change your oil one time. Now.. if you didn't change your oil for 20K miles.... THEN you'd be in trouble.

Here is the way I understand it works. To keep your warranty in effect you must maintain your 4runner as directed in the owners manual using oil/filters that meet Toyotas standard of care. You must keep your receipts for all OCI's. If you do it yourself then you would have the receipts for the purchase of the oil and oil filter and something that states date and mileage when you did the change. If you do your oil/filter purchases in bulk and change it yourself you would need some documentation that you show when and at what mileage you changed your oil. If you have this type of self documentation versus say a receipt showing a oil/filter change at a Toyota dealership then it is up to Toyota to prove that "you" did something that caused the failure. Normally unless you just gunked up your vehicle Toyota would cover the repair. I've alway wondered what happens when you buy a used vehicle from say a Toyota dealership that has no maintance records but say has an additional 20K miles of power train warranty, you take it in and have it serviced at the dealer and then have a warranty problem with your engine lubrication. I think it would be tough to turn you down. But anyone that buys a used vehicle normally doesn't have any records. Another example, if I switched to synthetics I would want to run my T4R 7500 miles between OCI's, but that is 2500 more then Toyota directs for my 2004. But if you own a 2003 Toyota allows 7500 mile OCI to maintain your warranty. Now would Toyota deny my warranty claim when I used a superior oil and followed the OCI of the previous year vehicle that had the exact same engine? Just to cover my butt and feel good about how I take care of my T4R I change mine at the dealership (they use Castrol GTX 5w30) every 3750 miles (I know over kill). It costs less then doing it myself every 7500 miles with synthetic.

My manual says:
Preferred every 8000 km or 6 month,
Regular every 16000 km or 12 month
So I decide to go with synthetic and do it every 15-16k
