First post, outfitting advice wanted

Hello all,
I have a 2011 sr5 premium and am looking to begin modding it. It has been my wife's for a year but I will now be taking it over. I haven't done anything to it other than put husky liners in, which I love. Here's what I'm thinking:

I will be needing a roof rack for sure, as I am planning a Colorado trip with 3 other friends next spring, we will need the space for gear. One with capabilities to secure fuel cans would be nice.

I would also like a mild lift and a new set of wheels and tires, the lake effect snow here in northern indiana has been cake for the 4runner, but I'd like to have some fun in both deeper snow and off-road. Black wheels preferred.


Possibly a trd intake if it has performance value.

The truck is silver, and I hate the chrome trim pieces. Plastidip in the future for sure.

What would one recommend for the roof rack, lift, and wheel size and tire size? I'm looking for above average quality, but not trying to spend a fortune. Just someone trying to break into the SUV world for the first time.

Welcome to the forum and to being a 4Runner owner. I'm on my 3rd and have loved them. Before anyone gets on to you for not searching the forum, my advice would be to start looking around at different people's build threads (make sure you have a limit on your credit card because most of the mods will make you drool). Then look at some of the lifted pictures up in the sticky.

As far as racks go, there seems to be an endless supply of fabricators (some of which sell on here (drabbits and Winston Metal Works) along with others such as Gobi and Baja. Go with what fits your budget.

As far as lift and tires go, search the above threads. And when you are ready to come out to Colorado, send me a message and we can go wheelin. Best of luck and have fun blowing through your savings.

Welcome!!! Check out mikey's2010SR5 build thread. Maybe more extreme then you want to go but you'll get some ideas.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I really like that gobi stealth but it's a little steep price wise for a rack. I really like the look of Mikey's truck, thanks for the link!

I plan on spending time in San Juan area when I'm out there, and visiting a friend in boulder. close to you WOD?
