First SUV

Hey all,

I've been on here for a couple weeks now, lurking and commenting here and there, but I just got my 4Runner dropped off and am excited! It's a 2012 Trail Edition in Shoreline Blue. Unfortunately no KDSS. I know I'm gonna get flak for saying this and buying one of these, but I don't plan to take it off road a lot. Sure, I might try here and there, but I'm kinda limited living near Chicago. I plan on using it for camping trips, hauling the family around, and just a new driving experience. I always have driven cars, my last was a 2016 GTI that I sold to get this. I also don't plan on doing a whole lot of upgrades minus maybe some cosmetic things here and there.

Anyways, I'm excited to be part of this community and hope to enjoy this new vehicle!

Nice looking ride! I think the trail versions before the "facelift" are the best looking 5th gens. I highly doubt I ever do any serious off roading with mine either.

I originally liked the facelift 5th gen, but the more I looked at the pre-facelift ones, I started liking them more, especially the trail edition. The front kinda reminds me of the Subaru Forester XT Sport, which I always had a soft spot for turbo Subarus.

Completely agree. Looking back, I wish I would have bought a pre-facelift Runner TE instead.
