Most people walleye fish the Maumee river into Erie. Just a bit west of Port Clinton. I have no idea when the run is, but based on the people on the river, I’d say you missed it by a few weeks.

Castek using

I realize it's a bit late to help the OP, but I thought others might be interested in this rig [MENTION=636690]cjalexander[/MENTION] made for us. He used Yakima universal mighty mounts and a Castek to create a fishing pole carrier. We drove about 10 hours (round trip) for a camping trip and it didn't rattle at all. The only downside so far is you have to be careful about driving under tree branches. The Castek stayed on just fine, but one of our lines broke.

Yeah, I’ve fished that several times years ago. The run is typically March and early April I believe.

Thanks. We’re going up for other things, fishing will be just a side event. So no boating this time. If it doesn’t work out, no problem.

I use this ski rack. It’s the 23” one and Carries about 4 rods. They make bigger ones. Cheap and you can lock it. Works perfect.

Time to start getting out! I use clothes rods from walmart and velcro. Link in my signature. Been using this setup for a couple years with zero complaints even off road! My season will start in a week or 2 with some mountain trout up in NC.
