Fitting 02 Heated Leather Seats into a 98

Hey Everyone,

I just found some heated leather seats out of an 02 T4R that are in good condition to replace my wore out seats in my 98. I'm picking up the switches as well. Has anyone here ever put stock heated seats into their T4R? Just wondering what the best way is going to be to get them wired up.

I didn't think heated leather was an option in the 3rd gen. Are these from a Canadian model?

I would think that all they need is power and ground, maybe use a relay to the switch and power/ground to the elements. Of course an inline fuse to prevent your ass from catching on fire

Are there only two wires on the heating elements?

Well, you have a Limited, so your wiring harness onboard the vehicle is equipped with electric seats and their wiring harness. I did a manual SR5 cloth seat to Limited leather seats a few months ago, and all I can say is remember the wiring harness off of the donor vehicle. It helps with being able to simply unclip the wiring to take the seats out.

Heated leather seats started in '01 Limiteds and were also in the '02 models.
All I know is the years offered. I know US owners have them. Not entirely sure if it was Canadian thing.

Heated seats were not an option on 98's in Canada.
But having said that, back in 99' I did have aftermarket units installed.

Take seat covers off, put in heating elements, cover back on, wired up with a low/hi switch and voila.

These days, you could really just use those cheap heated seat pads that plug into the cigarette lighter and do the same thing.

Nope, not a Canadian model, supposedly heated seats became standard on limiteds starting in '01.

I was hoping that since I have a limited that there's something already in my wiring harness.

I worked on a 2002 4runner yesterday that had factory heated seats. didnt even know it was an option until yesterday
