I agree it looks stupid and like someone would do to a civic, but i thought i might give it a shot :bigok: I think I might paint it again though, I was thinking something like metallic siver. Something with less color and not so So Gay

Maybe take it easy on the stereotyping??? Don't want to get into another big argument but I used to own a civic and I NEVER painted my timing belt cover, or anything else for that matter. Also, I know a huge amount of guys that drive civics. Probably about half of them have next to no aesthetic mods and put out over 300hp to the wheels, and the other half still don't paint timing belt covers. There is a big difference between a nicely powdercoated valve cover, and someone (not you) getting crazy with wire loom and spray paint.

Yeah there are guys that rice out civics.... and neons and saturns and kias and whatever else they can get their hands on. The town where I live in is home to the second largest tech school in the country so as you would guess I see some pretty interesting shit driving around here (lavender mirage...???) and the whole riced out thing goes WAY past civics.

I'm glad you took my opinion in stride, honestly in my opinion. A 4Runner should be decked out in trail gear, NOT as a rice cooker.

I personally have a grudge against civics because IMO i feel the whole rice grinder thing started with that car. So any time I ever make a reference towards stupid ricers, the civic is always my main example. My bad :sadwave:

I like the look of trail gear but its too heavy and Im trying to build my 4runner for the drag strip and the trails. I actually painted this cause I was bored and I thought it would be funny...and it was:lmao:

I almost bought a 99 civic yesterday, goin to look at bout 4 others today, they are high as giraffe pu**y, told my STI buddy that I couldn't find a good solid five speed civic coupe without a fireball exhaust and euro tails, so we come to the conclusion that Paul Walker is personally responsible haha, anyway

Oh no no no, it protects your timing belts from something getting into it and messing everthing up. Your serpintine belts dont need protection cause if they get messed up you just lose powersteering and electricity. If your timing belts get messed up you lose your engine.

isn't the 4runner a non interference motor? if the belts were to get screwed up, wouldn't the worst thing that can happen is getting stranded?

Your engine won't mess up, you just have to get a new timing belt.

If you lose a timing belt theres a chance that one of if not all you pistons could slam into your vavles and.....that would suck. Either way, even if Im wrong, theres a reason why every single car on the planet (ok that my be on over exageration) has something covering the timing belts.

Buy a sport hood and make it functional. That would be pimp.

the 5VZ-FE is a non interference motor. if the belt snaps, you just need to get it re timed

thats funny you mention that, I was just talking to the guys at Irbis offroad about that yesterday. The position of the throttle body and the placement of the scoop creates a bit of a problem, but if I just bought an aftermarket hood scoop and off-set it towards the passenger side it would be pretty easy. The only problem is, it would look really stupid
