Do you have a police report? If so, call your insurance company, give them all that info, have them fix it, and let them go after the money. It's what you pay them for, and why they have their own legal teams.

Don't touch it...you have Ins. and they have Ins. so turn it in to your Ins. and get it fixed by the experts. That is what you have Ins. for.

Or are you wanting to pocket the Ins. check for repair cost, and do it yourself to put some cash in your pocket? A lot of people do this, and it works but the repairs don't usually work out so good.

I have insurance and just want to get it fixed. All I have is liability so doubt geico is going to do anything.

I'm just expecting the worse since I can't even contact the city. I have a report but it was really more of a hand written note with all the details.

I'm confused. Did you or a witness see the bus hit your truck or did you just walk out to the damage? Where the police called? Where did the "hand-written note come from? I personally would NEVER take a $2500 hit to the wallet for someone else's negligence. I see your from NY but the incident happened in Boston so is that problem? If not you should be able to find the same bus or at least find out what bus was following that route that day. A little leg work to save a considerable amount of money, unless you have money to burn then just have it repaired.

You need to start a log/diary of exactly who what and when on everthing. The city has a program to cover all things like this, and it has to be readily available to people. Boston is self insured no doubt, but there is a program/division just to handle stuff like this.
Start sending certified letters with signature of receipt with your claim and request for contact to the following, Transit/Transportation Office, Public Works Dept., Police Department, Mayors Office. I would also do the email thing, but mainly for possible response and tracking of their response. This will get you locked in on your time of claim.
Then it's just a matter of leg work and documenting every minute/cost you put into getting this rectified. If you get the run around is where the time/cost involved comes in huge for you. They won't be forced to compensate your for a little time, but if this drags out and you are getting the run around they are liable for all your costs including interest. For a couple hundred...probably not worth it....for 2500 its darn well worth it.

that is an easy pull just ask a body shop how much to do a floor pull and get the shape back then find a good body guy who wants to do some side work and have him finish it out but not really a hard fix it just needs the right talent behind it.
