FJ Cruiser OEM Front & Rear Coils + Cornfed 3/2" Lift Kit Inquiry

Been doing a lot of reading/reasearch lately and a few posts/threads about using the FJ Cruiser front and rear OEM coils on the 4th gens. From what I gathered, this set up will give you an additional 0.5-0.75" of lift front and rear. I plan on installing the Cornfed 3/2" lift as well along with 285-70R17 MT Tires and Spidertrax spacers.

Will this set up work?

It should work very well!

The only reason that I went with 255 MT's rather than 285's is I got my 5 tires for $450, and that is a hard deal to pass up.

The one problem that I think you might run into is when you run a larger spacer in the back, your ride quality really suffers (that is the reason I only have a 1" spacer in the rear, rather than a 2"). I do not know how well your stock rear shocks will handle that much lift.

i have been wondering about this too. my runner still sits fairly raked and still getting rubbing on the front body mount. i was looking for a way to get close to another 1" of lift. how do you mean the ride really suffers in the rear with a 2" lift and the FJ springs? i think i would just want the fronts. as all im trying to do is level it out some and give that extra room i need for the front tires. i would love to be able to add my spider trax spacers to the front but i think im still going to rub. however this FJ spring option might help give me that little bit extra.

Well what is your current set-up? What type and size of lift/tires etc...

Also, are you rubbing your inner fender/bumper or your actual body mount?

And the ride would suffer when you have a 2" spacer and FJ springs due to the fact that the shocks are not designed to be extended that far/you wont have the same droop in the rear.

my current setup is a corned 3/2 lift with 295/70/17 terra grabbers

spidertrax in the rear but not front because of contact with the body mount.

without the spacers im getting a tad bit of rubbing on the mount when i enter driveways with the wheels turned. i know its not the inner fender liner.

here are a few pictures of my setup.

as you can see the front still sits quite low compared to the rear. if nothing else i think FJ's in teh front would help with lvling it out.

thank you. im loving the way they look on the truck.
just really wanting to get the spidertrax spacers on the front to set the stance where i want it. only concern is the body mount and more of a lift in the front. trying to see possible options as everywhere i have seen only has a 3" lift in the front as the highest. ive thought about tubular UCA's with dropped ball joints but not sure where to source them.

then there is the concern with the struts being maxed out and out of thier comfort zone.

and the spring length is limited by 2-3 inch lift without going full on threaded coils.

Well I assume that it is the body mount if you are running tires that big.

You will have to chop/reweld your body mounts. Check out post #172 here it shows what will need to be done. I would ask around over there if a little bit more lift will help or not.

ya i have seen the procedure done before but havent had the chance on mine yet.

thank you very much for the links. should help when i do the chopmod. just have to figure out which route i wanna take to modify it. (how much material i wanna remove) i really want to get the spacers on the front

so blair do you have pictures before and after the FJ springs? i saw your post on the installed setup but wondering whether you have pictures side by side of pre and post FJ springs with the spacer lift?

your front end is definitely the amount of lift i want.

call me crazy but i just noticed something that maybe someone can shed some light on. and it would definitely explain why i have been having trouble with the tires rubbing.

here are the pictures on burntmans site showing a cornfed 3/2 lift which i had purchased. now am i crazy or is his front higher and more level to the rear than mine by far.

am i crazy?

Tires can make a huge difference.

EDIT: I will get some pictures up comparing the stance a little later on tonight.

i see your point but do yuo see the fender to tire gap. it looks pretty much the same on his whereas mine has about a 2-3" difference between the two

Well upon looking closer, you can see that he is parked on a slant (look at bricks on the house behind the truck) and this would make the front sit higher than it normally does.

Crazydub,The difference is visual. You have different offset FJ rims , not to mention a bolder style rim , and 295's are pretty killer looking. You said you were NOT running spacers ?? Correct. Your truck looks excellent. I'm doing front/rear FJ springs and a 1" or 1.25 front spacer and am running 265/70/17's so I hope my tires clear with my FJ rims which I have yet to put on.

Blair, with the rear spacer being a harder ride even with the 1" is that because of CF lift style material ? Because I have not heard that with a DS poly spacer that have a 1.5 in rear like J.A.'s truck or any others.
