Fj cruiser vs. 4runner

Stock for stock the only differences are the slightly (34 deg. vs. 33 deg) better front approach angle , much better (33 deg. vs. 26 deg) rear departure angle and slightly shorter length between an FJ and Trail Edition. Aside from that they are identicle. I have gotten on FJ forums to see what they think about 4Runners and you would think we drive Higlanders to some of their members. Some were saying stuff like the FJ just feels tougher and they feel like they can beat on it harder off road. Ignoring the fact that a 4Runner is an FJ that is 6 inches longer and has 2 real back doors. This is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Sorry, rant over.

Anyway, for me the 4Runner has a better driving position, better feel, better front visibility, waay better rear visibility, my second row passengers are not sitting in a cave, its long enough that I can fold down the second row and sleep in it and it is just as tough as an FJ because it IS an FJ, just one with 4 real doors. Test drive both and see what you like. They are both great vehicles.

Like I said zero off roading for me.. Leaning towards the 4R more.

Just the one thing I did hate on them.. But more so on the 4R.. Was the nose dive bounce... Which I had asked on my other thread.. About coilovers... Deff would put some toytec to tighten up that dive... I think after that she would be perfect

Dude, this is a no brainer, given what you are saying. Not even worth the debate - 4Runner all the way.

All of this adds up and stock for stock the FJ is more capable out of the box. The shorter wheelbase is the big difference between the two and regardless of specs, it is dramatic, and unchangeable with mods. No disrespect to the 4R which is more versatile and comfortable hands down.

This quote sums it up best. We rented an FJ in Vegas back when Alamo was using the FJ in their rental fleet. I fell in love with it and always wanted one. When I started shopping for my TE Runner I first looked at the FJ but comparing the 14 runner with an FJ the runner has a much nicer interior, better on road feel and is overall more useful. In terms of resale values its is pretty much a draw on which is better. Both the FJ and Runner have excellent resale values. If you don't have a family, don't plan on using the back doors or don't want to see out of the back get an FJ.

I have both. In stock form I think FJ rode better than our G4 or G5 4Runners. The FJ is louder than either 4Runner. The interior and lacks many of the creature comforts that the 4Runner has as well. To have the best of both worlds get one of each.
