And it all starts. Lift came in today

The only hard part of this rear lift done today was getting the shocks out! Oh my goodness trying to find a way to get the old ones out and the new ones in was a task in itself that took an hour.

Then Finally my Stinkbug Runner!!!! haha i ran our of time, so i have to finish it up on thursday. so more posts to come.

Hi,

Nice thread. I did my rear shocks about 6 months ago and they were a pain. I finally got them off by using a wrench on the top nut and using vice grips to turn the shock, unscrewing it.

The rear shocks are a pain due to the top bolt that holds it. If you search for rear shock removal on 3rd gen you'll see I read about people breaking the shock off, angle grinding it off, and the most popular, straight up sawzalling them clean off. . I was able to get a socket and small breaker bar above them and twist them off with a rubber clamp. It wasn't easy. Then putting the new bracket on was almost as hard! the nice thing about getting the bracket finally on is that i wont have to deal with it again for shock replacement. the shock now bolts to the bracket from a visible location.

Continuing On

So got my wheels today from toyotaofdallas.com 150 bucks a peice, and no shipping if you pick them up ;-) 20 per wheel otherwise. these will be going on friday wrapped by my 285/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Pics of the front suspension will be posted tomorrow, then phase one will be complete on friday with these wheels.

Front Springs IN

yeah getting these suckers in wasnt easy either. again had to surf threads to find out how to do all of it. the toytec instructions online are vague.

this was me having to bottle jack the coilover in to place

after getting the coilovers in place and having the diff loose while doing them, i got the diff drop kit installed. . super easy by the way.

and of course the final product as it sits. i have to adjust the fronts (need to raise them about half an inch each) and get an alignment. tires/wheels going on in about half an hour

Shrockworks is building me front/rear bumpers and sliders that won't be ready for probably another 3 months. But immediately researching upper control arms. Need to find something that won't rub my 285s at full droop and turn lock after UCAs/alignment, and before Shrockworks, probably skid plates considering I have zero underside protection being an SR5

Went to the dealership to build my truck even more! key fob. my door actuators are failing so programming this thing myself was a huge pain in the ass. they did it in 30 mins for 55 bucks. so i was pleased. all the service guys came out to check it out. . the wheels made them double take.

So after many months of waiting all of my shrockworks stuff has been completed! very excited about getting it on. sliders and UCA's are next!

Romoval of the original bumper was actually fairly easy. a few bolts out and the thing was off in no time.

Installing the new bumper however was a bit different. i still have to drill in my side protection braces in, but at least the thing is on the truck.

The front bumper was fairly easy to remove too. only a few bolts.

Had to grind off the original mounting brackets for the new bumper to fit on the truck.

have to adjust the front bumper a little to get it perfect. the passenger side is slightly off. Driver side fits perfect. i love how snug these shrockworks bumpers end up. Very amazing work done by Shrockworks in Houston. THANKS GUYS!

That was worth the months wait. WOW! I've always loved those FJ wheels and there was a member here who sold them for cheap...man I wish I would've gotten them..
