Flashing A/C light after relay replacement

I have a 2003 V8 Sport Edition with 185,000 miles with the dreaded flashing A/C light. Yes, I've used the search function and read threads on here and Yotatech and Toyota120. I replaced the magnetic clutch relay with the updated gray one and I am still getting the flashing light. I had a tech check the charge on the system and it was at 0.96 lbs so he filled it to the recommended max of 1.54lbs. This did not solve the issue either. He filled the system with dye and I have not found any leaks nor is it making any leaky sounds.

The compressor does work because the system will blow cold every now and then but eventually it times out and cuts off and the flashing light occurs. I have ordered a new HVAC control unit off eBay per the tech's suggestion. I will report back if this fixes the issue.

Feel free to throw out some suggestions.

I bought a replacement relay from autozone and it did not work. Bought a 2nd from amazon and it fixed it.

I drilled a small hole on the side of the relay. Sprayed electric spray in it and it fixed it. I ordered a new oem updated one from ebay for 6 bucks. The one i drilled still works. I have it in the glovebox as a backup.

Just thinking it could be your high pressure cutoff switch. Do you have any blockage between your condensor and radiator? If you do it could be building up too much head pressure, i.e. upwards of close to 400 psi, because there isn't sufficient ram air to condense the charge to a vapor.
Expansion valve could be sticking too.
Did your tech recover and pull a vacuum on the system?

your compressor might be running low on oil...mine had the occasional flashing light issue...checked the pressure with the guages..twas ok......ac blows cold when it does...n then the flashing light sometimes and hot air.
my compressor locked up about 1 week after this issue...and when it was removed...no oil was found...........

so my take is : try to add a lil oil to the compressor.....or if possible...drop the compressor, open it up.....add recommended amout of oil , vaccum your system and refill

If the compressor is low on oil it is also low on refrigerant. The oil and refrigerant mix and go hand in hand. It also will not throw a light if it's low on oil.

Give the system a real good look over. Check the service ports, the condensor and all connections for an oily residue. If you see any oil that's where your leak will be.

What brand of relay did you put in?

Your control module could be flashing a code because its possible that a blend door isn't functioning correctly too. Those actuators for the blend doors have position sensors in them and if they aren"t where they're supposed to be then your control module will flash a code. And with that being said with the door neither fully closed or open you'll get warm air and the compressor will more than likely disengage.
Just another thought.
