Flat cargo area with tie downs and storage

To secure the floor try using #14 flat head wood screws in predrilled holes Bevel the holes so the screws fit flush. Due to the big diameter, these can be installed to fit loosely and turn out with an easy twist using a short handled driver that's easy to keep in the car. When you want access you simply remove 4 screws per panel.
I like the metal track for tie down. It looks like they are part of the floor panels that remove, but I can't be sure looking at the bottom and top photos.
I removed my back seats 3 weeks ago for my first camping trip and haven't put them back in yet. I imagine making a similar platform in the front where the seats anchor. I'd add plywood to cover the back just to protect it. But with no prep at all the front works great and will fit 3 or 4 5-gallon water bottles and the ice cooler with room to spare.

Cool modification. First time ever on forum. Does anyone know of a custom style pad for 2014 SR5 that would make cargo area close enough to level with folded down seats. My wife keeps borrowing my 08 sport edition when she goes camping without me because my seats actually go flat. Her 2014 SR5 has the annoying downward hump. Thank you.

Loving the rear deck. No complaints. I use the tie downs almost every day for securing heavy things I Doan't want to become projectiles and the under deck storage is fantastic. Also sleep on it regularly.

Do you have any other pictures showing how much storage there is under there cant really tell. Also any chance you have "plans" of this build I would love to recreate it in my own tr4. Thanks in advance!

Old thread - sometimes when you bump a thread from someone that hasn't been updated in over a year, they might no longer be an owner.
That said, I did the cheap man's version of this (the original Antman box) and it was probably the best thing I've done with any of my 4Runners beyond installing a HAM Radio in all of them.
^ [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] recommends designing a split in the lid so that you can access different sides of the cargo area. I'm not that complicated so I am ok with the one lid concept. As far as available storage - I would say you're limited to a few inches.
