Flat Tire !*#$(*@!$

I feel everybody's pain and frustration, when I had my Explorer I had 20 inch wheels and tires, and there was a month last summer that I literally got 4 flat tires, one every week!!! And it always seems to be similar bolts that I was running over. After patching all of them, they never seemed to hold air like they were supposed to. :(

How did you have them patched? A proper patch placed from the inside of the dismounted tire should not leak.

I have no idea, the only explanation I got was that there must have been a leak somewhere else or the seal wasn't very good around the wheel, either way I don't think I'll ever get 20's again, they were just more trouble than they were worth

Tires

Can someone tell me if there is a harder ride from changing the original 4R highway tires to some that are heavier duty?
THanks

Load range will affect ride. Big difference in ride between truck load range C - D - E. Passenger type tires that we get on the 4runners are set-up to ride softly. I would suggest you air the tires you have on your 4runner right now to say 40psi and ride around for awhile, that will give you a feel for how rough the ride will be with A/T type truck tires on your 4runner. The A/T type truck tires will also not corner as well as the OEM tires. The A/T's will handle heavy snow/off road better than OEM. I think the best compromise tire for our 4runners in the 17" size is the Michelin Cross Terrains, they are a passenger type tire with a good M/S tread and siping. Good luck with your decision.

I had road tires on my Pathfinder and put larger AT tires on as a replacement and the truck handled better especially around turns, just felt much more stable
