Ok so i know all about long arm kits, So please dont steer this thread that way! I want to get the most flex out of this thing as posible, so this is what i have so far

and the rear is sonona steel lift. That is all i know about it.

so I was wondering what people are doing with there sway bars because my 2nd gen dose not have them and it is fine but this is my dd and i want it to be way more streetable then my 2nd gen! witch disconnects are better? and what about my rear what should i do about that?

I love crazydubman set up

The front really wont flex anymore than the IFS will allow now madder what springs and shocks you run up front. To get more flex you would need too swap over too a solid axle.

The SS rear is just LC coils and LC shocks. If you have the rear sway bar lift brackets your pretty much maxed in the rear but it flexes like crazy. The front I dont run a sway bar at all. Still feels safe on the street IMO. I kept tearing the front links anyways.

Thanks for the compliments first off.

I think for the rear you will need to get some of the landcruiser lift shocks. I know Brian2Sun and J-Money$$ both have landcruiser applications in the rear with longer than Sonoran Steel rear springs. I personally have the 861's and they are still seated great when fully articulated.

If you want that full travel I would suggest swapping the lower rear links with some poly/heim links like mine or J-Money$$. The factory links limit the droop with a little almost bump stop on the front pivot of the arm. It binds up if you take it past where most rear setups get you.

Keep in mind the driveshaft will become an issue with the factory gas tank skid if it hasnt already.

JayRolla, what are these sway bar lift brackets you are talking about? I would love to be able to run a rear bar again, but I have a feeling that the length of endlinks I would need, would bind up on stuff to really get the full use out of the rear.

Are these lift brackets just spacers for the bushing mounts?

deff just going to get the sway a way rear shocks but were would I get those lower link that you are talking about?

so when i go to buy new springs witch ones would be the best to get? but I do a bit of towing, and love to pack the truck full of camping gear so a super soft spring wont be good for me.

X2 on this sway bar lift bracket?

You would be good to go with a set of OME 861's which are the same ones that I am running. They are landcruiser low lift HD front springs. You can go through Toytec for those and the rear suspension links. Dont forget to get the extended rear brakeline while you are putting the order in.

The one issue that you will run into with the SAW's is that the ones I have, were made for a 4th gen. You will have to use a unibit and enlarge the upper mount hole slightly in order for them to be mounted. If that is no problem then I would suggest going that route. I haven't seen any listed for the 3rd gen and I already had stock 06 rear shocks mounted so I knew that the next shocks I get, would have to be 4th gen ones because of the upper mounts.

Keep in mind that you will have to extend your bumpstops with those shocks. I would have to measure the amount that I spaced mine again, but it has worked out perfect so far. Check my build thread. I can't remember whether I stated the spacer size or not. I can maybe grab that info this weekend if you need it.

Hey guys, were you referring to the rear sway bar link?
Like mine? Or am I completely misunderstanding you?

Why do you want so much rear flex? There's only so much you can do with it. Your ground clearance is going to limit you, not the flex. As will your driveshaft against the tank. I can go anywhere I want (within reason) as long as my gc will allow it. You're talking about an IFS rig that's limited regardless of it's up and down travel. Lockers and traction will be your best friend in these rigs.

He said he had the SS rear lift kit, which would consist of 7 wraps, LC shocks, rear lift brackets, they just lift the sway bar about 2 inches above the axle to get full articulation. You can see in my sig pic that im pretty flexed out and I can hit my bump stops before the sway bar gets in the way.

Ah, yeah. Then thats pointless. And yeah, with what ARKRWLR said. These things aren't intended to have some insane articulation ratio. They do the job, and I have personally never been in the position where I've wanted more flex. I like the way it feels offroad.

Because, more flex= awesome!!! Also I need to get new suspension parts because, mine are old and rusty. Defiantly want to set it up the best it can be set up!

He is correct though. Running 8-9 wrap springs can cause more issues than good. Like driveshaft rubbing a lot on the gas tank, mine rubs with 7 wraps. Another issue is you outflex the coil on one side and the spring falls out on the trail. Not a good thing. With 8 wraps I would leave the coil bump stop so you dont have too much lift.

ARKRWLR has a point. If you are locked, it is almost better to float over some holes than to drop right in them with one corner and have to crawl out. You can start to bind the axle up trying to climb out of some spots.

Plus, too much flex can make side hills a little scary if you aren't paying attention.

Flex is good, but it is a balance.

I totally agree! the hole point of this was to make sure I have all the things I need to get the most out of my suspension. Not to sacrifice performance for flex!
