Flood damaged 4Runners...

So I was taking my daily look at easyexport.us to look at the wrecked 4Runners that come up for sale, and I see a handful of brand new (1-2 miles, window stickers still in the window) 4Runners for sale. So sad to see these beautiful machines for sale as salvage even before they got a chance to be driven, but not as sad as the people whose lives were impacted.

I half heartedly thought about bidding on one for spare parts and to take apart with my ten year old and generally annoy my wife:spider:...I will have to see how high the prices go...

Shoot that could be a killer way to get parts if you could get it for the right price. I saw one with the bid at $125 at the moment. If you could get it for close to that price that would be sweet. After fees it was like $500? I'd snag the tails and the leather seats out of it for sure.

Remember kids! Flood waters contain chemicals, oil, garbage, sewage, and feces! All kinds of feces! All that stuff is inside those trucks.

Notwithstanding the "fecal factor", if you were after things like rims, glass, and I suppose panels if they were taken off of the vehicle and washed off really well, this would be a good source for parts. If the engine and transmission was not full of water, that would be sweet also...but I guess if the window sticker is water damaged, the engine and tranny had been immersed and probably got wet.

The vehicles with the biohazard stickers on them ar bad news. It basically means that someone bled or pooped all over the inside. I saw one 4R that had a ton of blood all over the drivers seat and on the headliner. That driver had a realy bad day.

I looked into this a few months ago; there's a Coparts in Houston. Older cars are more readily salvaged by insurance companies since thier value is so low. The newer ones seem to have serious problems if they are salvaged.

Off topic, do all Sr5's in the states have that body style? Up here in Canada those bumpers and chrome trim are only found on the Limited. The SR5's up here are very similar to the trail minus the hoodscoop, and some blacked out parts.

We unfortunately don't get your body trim in the states.

The prices are going pretty high on those rigs. I fear they're going to be cleaned up and sold to some sucker...
