Flood Light Help - why do I have 2 red power leads?

So electronics were never my good subject and I already almost fried my whole truck on the first attempt so thought I should ask. I'm adding 2 floods to my AOR bumper and wired everything up but have no idea what to do with the extra ground wire and power wire that are stemming from the switch portion of the harness. They obviously don't go to the battery because that's were I think I went wrong the first time.

Any ideas? The diagram says to go to the "panel source" but I have no idea what that means. NOTE: I don't care about having them come on with the headlights or anything else more complicated - just want them to work with the switch I bought that has 5 connectors instead of the 3 on the supplied switch so that will be another puzzle to solve I'm sure.

let us see the switch and the pins. I hope the other power line may be to turn on a light bulb inside the switch.

Use a miltimeter to identify the pins.
Have the switch off and turn the multimeter to OHM scale and then find to pins that is not connected, but gets connected when you turn the switch to on position. When it is off the multimeter should show 0 and when switch is on, it should show 1.

Is it a lighted switch?

If so, the "panel source" is likely power from the fuse panel to light up the switch when it's turned on.

Without more info about the switch and/or harness you used it's just a guess.

It says connect these to the "Panel Source". Can someone please tell me where the hell the "panel source" is?? There are 2 identical connectors that go to the battery.

There is a separate red, black, and blue going directly to the switch so I don't think the extra red wire is for the switch.

What floodlight are you adding? Got a link to a part or brand or wiring harness diagram?

Seeing a picture of two wires doesn't tell us anything.

The black next to the question mark goes to a chassis ground. The red goes to a power source in the fuse panel that's only hot with the key in the run position.

What's the number on the supplied switch? I believe you have the blue and red backwards, but that depends on which switch you have. If the switch is 1127 it should go black, blue and red from the top when the LED light is oriented at the top of the switch.

Thanks. I don't see any number just a faint stamp KCD1. The switch was pre-wired so I hope they got it right.

So to be sure, I should just splice into an existing red wire that goes to something else on the dash (creating a "T") that works only when key is on such as the radio or cig lighter?

It doesn't have to be ignition only, but that would be wise so you don't leave them on by accident. If you want to use that other switch, I can identify which terminals to use if you want to meet up again. I'll be in La Habra mid to late next week. I was in Anaheim yesterday!

Hey buddy, good to hear from you again. I'm going to give it another shot tonight and if I don't have any luck I'll take you up on that for sure, but hoping I got it straight now. The other light harness didn't have the extra +/- leads so it threw me off on this one.
