Floor Jack Capacity

I am shopping for a floor jack and I am wondering
if 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack is strong enough
for our trucks. The Spec says it's lifting capacity is 3000 lbs.
To my understanding it should be sufficient to jack the front or the rear
part of the T4R. Am I correct?
Also I would like to know the recomended capacity for a jack stand.
Thanks a lot in advance.

A 1.5T floor jack will work perfectly fine for a 4Runner. As for jack stands, I use 6T. They are tall enough to reach the chassis and have a nice wide, stable base.

I agree that the 1.5T will work fine, but I would go with a 2T or 2.5T personally. I would recommend at least 5T stands but 6T would be ideal, like what Jeremy has. I use a 2.5T with 6T stands myself. You can go cheaper on the jack, but don't go cheap on the stands! I recently had a cheap one snap on me and now I don't borrow my brother's stuff because of it!

Agreed! It's also good to point out that the jack is for lifting the vehicle....not holding it in place. A jack stand will be much less prone to failure than a hydraulic jack.

Sorry, I should ask this question from the beginning.
What would be the optimal lift range for the jack?
