So I bought a bike trailer for my kids to come along on my bike rides, and I bought a used one that was assembled and I put it in the rear and there was a piece of metal that I didn't see and it scratches the rear tailgate plastic by the rear window and I'm so pissed I almost threw the trailer in the trash, I just wanted to rant and I'm considering replacing it cuz its buggin me a lot.

Not as bad as closing the garage when your tail gate is open. Ended up with parallel scratches down the tailgate and a broken garage. FML.

Not as bad as you pull your motorcycle 1/2 way out of the garage so you can sweep, and your wife closes the garage door and it smashes a big ass dent in your gas tank. FML.

Yea I'm sure there's worst things, but just really pissed me off it's got a scratch on it already, it's just a couple weeks old, it prob won't stop really bothering me till I replace it

Try backing out of the garage with the door up just high enough to rip off the spoiler and roof rack.

Try scraping the side of your brand new 4Runner on a parking garage support column because the parking spaces are too small and you're not used to the garage OR the truck yet. FML.

The first scratches and/or dings always hurt - especially if if it was something that could have easily been prevented. My first real scratches came from a tumbleweed attack on a windy day when I had the misfortune to park at the end of the parking lot.

This is true. It always feels like it could have been prevented after the fact, but it's just a matter of time before that one little thing happens, in your control or someone else.

How about coming out of target to see a rogue shopping cart someone found its way between two other cars clear to dig a nice like scratch on your driver's side door.

I hate people too lazy to return their carts to the little corrals.

mine was unloading a heavy object from the back while in the garage (garage door open). because the tailgate was touching the rubber seal of the garage door, when the object was out of the car.. the suspension no longer compressed.. scraped the paint on the tailgate because of the dirt/sand/stone stuck the the garage door seal.

I have a rubber caster mounted to the inside of the garage door now like a landing gear so a CLEAN object makes contact with my tail gate...

i took my 4runner off roading with under 500km on the odo.


i wound up with a nice pin stripe from right head light to right tail light which spans the entire length of the body.


it sounded like nails on a chalk board as the pin stripping occurred lol.

This sucks major, I have had this happen twice. The first time was the day after I got my 5th gen and didn't realize the height difference between my new and old 4runner, thankfully I was at the rear of the vehicle and pressed the garage door button again to prevent even worse damage. But the second time I was in a hurry to get out of the house and I left the liftgate open and was in such a hurry to leave that I used the homelink button to operate the door and received a nasty scratch up the liftgate and part of the tag. :happens:

I had only owned my truck for about 3 months when I got a deep Sierra Pinstripe from the front quater panel all the way down the drivers sdie to the rear quater panel. The real bummer is I dont live in the Sierras nor had my truck been on a trail. It was parked overnight outside at work in a parking lot. Even worse is its on the drivers side so I get to look at it everytime I get in.

I was doing something in the back of the SR5 - I don't remember what. Anyway, after cleaning up all of my tools, I slammed the rear hatch (relative term) and as it bounced right back at me, I realized that I left an LED flashlight standing vertically right about where Antman's cupholder would be.

This could have all been avoided if:
the SR5 wasn't black and the flashlight too.
the 5th gen had the same easy close mechanism as the 4th gen
I wasn't so forgetful.

Pick the one that makes the most sense to you.

Not a major scratch but enough to piss you off. I'd just signed for the 4R 2 hours prior. My wife and I are going out for dinner...less than 20 miles on it Well I'd stepped in some dog crap, got into the rig and ground fresh poo into the carpet. New car smell and dog crap don't mix well. While I'm cleaning up the mess, the dog who left the present comes to see what's going on and in the process scratches the door. FML.
