I think everyone was pretty quick to judge the kid and say it is completely his fault, call him an idiot, and ask "what was he thinking"?! However, the FACT of the matter is that the bus illegally ran a red light and slammed into the kid in the crosswalk.

While I am not saying that the kid wasn't somewhat at fault because he should have been paying better attention, BUT he would not have been hit at all if the bus driver had obeyed the law and not run the red light. So ease up on the kid and don't be so quick to judge.

Yep, the bus running the red light will definitely be the person at fault, but I personally NEVER step into the street unless I look at what the traffic is doing. It always drives me crazy when people walk out right into the street (all the time in parking lots) without looking, assuming that the cars are going to see them and stop. In the battle between my body and a car, I know who's got the advantage.

I completely agree. Don't get me wrong I am in no way condoning the fact that he ran out in the middle of the street before looking to see if it was clear, BUT the fact is that he did have the right of way and the bus driver did break the law. I just think everyone was quick to unjustly judge the kid and blame it completely on him.
