Fog Light Installation Help for Oldest 3rd Gen

I have been searching this forum but could not find a detailed installation of fog lights for my 1996 SR5. I did not get the fog lights when I purchased my 4Runner and always wanted them.

A friend gave me some fog lights and a switch that he bought on ebay cause he ended up buying a new car, anyway can someone provide the link or provide some detailed instructions?

I want to be able to turn on/off foglights from a switch. I only want them on when I need them. I need to know how to wire lights and switch.

Are you wiring in stock foglights from another 4r? Was your truck ever wired for them from the factory or do you have the switch for them on your left hand multi-function switch?

Pretty easy to wire lights. Google is your friend. Nothing unique to runner if youre wiring to a switch.

Not stock fog lights from another 4runner. Do not have switch installed. Truck never wired. Looks like need to do this from scratch.

You might want to use a relay. With this you can have a pulse from the main ignition system so if you forget to turn off your lights, it will automatically turn off when you turn off your engine.

A relay has 4 pins (some times it can have 5)
They are numbered
Pin 87 is +12 V supply from your battery VIA a FUSE (20 A)

Pin 85 is grounded

Pin 86 goes to your switch + 12 V.
You can use +12 V from
A) car ACC line (power that goes into your radio). If you use a +12 V from this method you will turn off your accessory lights when you take the key from the ignition and will not require a fuse.

B) from the battery. Remember to use a fuse with this method. Also your lights will stay on even if you take the keys from the ignition. You have to remember to turn off your switch to turn off your accessory lights

Pin 30 is the +12 V supply to your accessory lights.

You can find all these numbers embossed right next to the respective pins

There may be two 87 pins, you can use either in that case.
