Fog Light Switch connections

Hey, for those of you that have installed the Toyota fog light switch for various applications, I have a question. What wires go to which connectors. I am installing front fog lights and have three wires to connect, the power, the remote, and the ground. The picture below is of the back and front of the switch. If you know, tell me which goes to each connection. Like is #3 the ground? It is much appreciated, I don't want to catch my baby on fire or anything.

Sorry, can't help you with the wire diagram, but I am curious . . .
1. Where did you get it?
2. How much?
3. Will it fit perfectly in the 4th generation rectangle switches?

I got it on Ebay, its for a Tacoma, I think. I paid around $12 with shipping. I installed it today, and it did fit rather snuggly. It looks stock. I think you can get it for cheaper at www.partznet.com I got it to work the lights, the only thing is that the indicator light on the switch is on when the parking lights are on, whether the switch is engaged or not. The installation instructions for the fog lights has the power tapped into the parking lights, so that the fogs only turn on when the parking lights are on. The remote wire is connected to a relay, which is connected to a fuse and on to the + battery terminal. In the switch that came with the fog lights, there is a resister that is connected to the remote wire, and to a seperate point that I'm not sure what is connected to. This probably keeps the light on the switch off when the switch is not engaged, and the parking lights are on. I hope that I am not doing any damage. If anyone out there can verify that all is OK I would appreciate it. Any suggestions on how to replicate the function of the resister on the original switch would also be appreciated.

BTW, the lights look awesome. I will take pictures tomorrow.
 
I mounted my switch on the center console next to the DAC button. It looks stock there. I used the tacoma fog lamp switch.
I took a picture but it kinda sucks. Here it is anyway.

that's the one I used for rear marker lights. I put it on the side as I have a V8. It lights up an orangy red at night. :D

What does having a v8 matter where you mount the switch? I also have a v8.

becaues V8s have the center console filled up with the air suspension buttons. If you check there... you shouldn't have any blank spaces... whereas the left side.. we have two spare ones for us to fiddle around with.

That is not true, I have a v8 and don't have the air suspension. I had two blank slots there.

The square style switch that is pictured here is the one i got a while ago and its only $9 from partznet...seemed more reasonable then the '05 Tacoma fog switch, i dont mind that the square is an older style, it still looks stock

He's speaking from the Canadian view point ;):

I think I recalled he said that the Limited in Canada came fully loaded with all the options including the air suspension. In the US its not as packaged together so we have more say in what options we get.

The switch that Lives4well posted was only about $10 from partznet. The Tacoma switch looks nicer, but its like 3x the price.
 
3 times the price but $10 vs $30 so I can live with that. I really like the way it blends in with the other switches better than the older style one. I'm gonna stop by the local dealer to see if he can at least match the price.

thanks for the clarification. I forgot that the air suspension is a option down in the states. With my V8 Limited here in Canada, it comes with everything and anything... including a tissue box holder. :p

I purchased the switch for the Japan version of the 4Runner and there are 7 pins on the back of the switch. This switch looks a little different from the ones pictured above, but I'm wondering if the connections are the same. You can't just use an ohm meter since this is not that kind of switch, it dosen't stay in when pressed like the 115V switch.

I just bought the plastic connector housing for the back and plus 4 wires that hook right up to it. So there are 4 pins on the back of my tacoma switch. The button does light up... depress when pressed... and fits in the hole. :D
