Fog Light Wiring, where did I go wrong?

I recently added factory "knock off" fogs lights to my 2000 SR5. I followed the instructions in the below link.

With truck off, turn on the headlights and the fogs come on, use the high beams they go off.

With the truck on, and the fog light switch on, the fog lights come on no matter what the headlight setting is. If switched off they do go off.

I disable the DRLs think that makes a difference?

The goal was to have them come on when the headlights are turned on.

What did I do wrong?

The fogs are on a separate switch on the stalk. Headlights will stay on with the car off IF you turned them on after you shut the car off. Same with the fogs, AFAIK

The fog lights are supposed to go off when the high beams are turned on to preserve the fog lights. That's all the value I can add here.

I used 100% OEM parts other than the fogs themselves when I did my fog light install. Get a matching turn signal stalk with fog light control (more often found on Siennas and Camry/Solaras of similar years), a fuse and the relay in the engine compartment. No wiring modification necessary and acts 100% OEM.

Did your rig came with pre-wire for the fog lights? When i did my fogs on my 99 limited, it came with oem fogs but i decided to replace them to ipf968 offroad lights and what i did was just cut the oem plugs that were in the rig and add it the new ipf lights to it and that was it. U might be powering the lights all the time and thats why they might be coming on everytime. Check your power wire and see how u got it plug in. The only way those foglights should be on is when the headlights are on in low bean setting. Check your switch maybe u got the wires mixup on the switch. U might want to add the oem stalk so u can have the stock function foglights.

It was prewired for fogs with no stalk switch. From what I have read I cut the wire going up the steering column and ran it to my switch. What makes no sense it operates correctly with the truck turned off and lights turned on. I did have to also install a relay in the under hood box.

Why does it change when the truck is turned on? Will keep researching.

I really did not want to deal with the air bag.
