Front Plate bumper with 2" receiver?

Looking into getting a steel plate front bumper. I would like to add a 2" receiver to it.

I've looked at the front hitch mounts that can be bolted to the frame but I would rather incorporate it into the bumper.

Any opinions/experiences on winching from the front with a winch tray mounted in the receiver?

I like the idea of being able to use it front, rear or just leave it home if I don't need it.

I'm interested in seeing the responses from some of the other members on this topic. I plan on building a front bumper this spring and like the idea of the receiver up front as well. I would be weary of doing any extreme pulls or any sort of side pull with a winch/plate and receiver set up, just for safety's sake. The main reason I'm entertaining the removable plate idea is just to keep the weight off the front end for DD use (which is 90% of my truck's life), and winch out of the weather.

On the flip side, as I see it, if I'm going to winch, I have already gotten myself in a situation where I want to go further forward...so no need for one on the rear. Second- if I'm stuck and need to winch out, I'm really not going to want to lug a winch/steel plate around, then connect it to power (whole 'nother dilemma), and THEN start finding anchor points etc.

A friend in denver has his Warn mounted to a hitch with cables running to both front and back. It's come in handy a few times when the rear end started to slide out close to a drop off.

If properly supported, there is no reason not to pull in any direction. The receiver itself will not be the weak link, nor will the ball mount style tube if it's not some thin gauge crap. Good welds, well thought out will work fine, already has for lots of people.
