Possible suspension upgrades?

In addition to the purely cosmetic TRD badging, TruckTrend claims that the suspension for the TRD Off Road trim has been upgraded with Bilstein shocks.

Interesting! I've been waiting for more info to come out on the 2017's and this is the first article I've seen with the upgraded shocks mentioned. Hopefully Toyota will start posting more specific info and build options on their website soon!

If you feel he is a "special" salesman then he has certainly done his job establishing a relationship with you.

Personally, after I shake hands with a salesman, I count my fingers.

I ordered mine a couple months ago, they insisted on 1000 down. I spoke with him a couple weeks ago and he still has heard nothing. The guy I am dealing with is some kind of special salesman (I forget exactly what he told me), all he could say for sure is I would have one of the first ones. He did say once they start taking orders he would call me to review what options I want (which I find strange because it really comes with nothing the dealer cannot do). If anyone is curious on the price, I was quoted MSRP

Upon visiting my 5th Toyota dealer in November and hearing everything from crickets to "$1000 non-refundable, but I'm a super special salesman and will get the first one for you", I think I've finally found some comfort.

In summary, a good friend of mine has a long friendship with a Toyota manager that just left a dealership to move. He set me and my friend up with the dealership owner and his son that will be taking care of us under his fathers guidance (fairly new to the family business). End of irrelevant details.

After a nice visit with both, I was able to allocate a 2017 4Runner TRD Pro in cement and select which options I wanted. They only required a $500 refundable deposit.

The timetable offered was honest and consistent with much of what we already know: They'll be built in December and delivered Jan or Feb.

I'll let you all know once I receive more details.

This is the same story I am hearing from the dealership I am working with. I had to go outside of Illinois to get a dealership to deal under MSRP on the TRD Pro. So far the best deal I've found is $500 under MSRP. Hopefully the dealer I'm working with will be able to throw in an extended warranty for a marginal surcharge. kdub351 was able to get a 7yr/100k extension for free while johnbt was able to get a 6yr/75K mile for $550.

I've been following this thread and just registered to the site to reply. Reading some of these last few replies about actually placing orders and getting a spot in the first allotment, etc, is really frustrating me. I started speaking with the dealer nearest to me in October about ordering a 2017 and as recently as this week he's saying there's still no info at all - no info on options, no pricing, nothing. Since then I've switched employers and just yesterday noticed that my new company has a deal with a specific Toyota dealership nearby to offer employee pricing on new cars. So I emailed the point of contact for this offer there, and he's also saying he's got no info on 2017s. Could this be a geographic thing? Both dealers are in MA.

That would be pretty cool. My FJ came with the off road package (not the Trail team edition) with Bilstein shocks and they are great. My wizbang 2016 TEP came with crud toyota shocks... I'd have liked to see nicer shocks under there with the trail package.

No that isn't true at all. Only cosmetic changes.

:(

Most people at dealerships won't have a clue. The programs and websites I have at my disposal as a salesperson don't show anything yet and won't for another few days. The info I've been relaying is from my inventory manager. She gets the spreadsheets and emails long before anything shows up in the computers.

There is still no real info on pricing and options but the options carry over from last year and the price I believe is an extra $200 over previous MSRP. Don't quote me on this one.

Orders went in either the 15th or 28th of November, I forget. Anything not ordered specifically is allocated by Toyota. Pretty sure this is based on previous years sales or something similar.

Once these things are built and headed stateside, inventory managers can basically "trade" with other dealers if they have what they're looking for. Most orders are attempted this way before actually placing and order from the factory. So basically dealer A has a T4R headed it's way that dealer B wants. Before it makes it to port they can trade for it and reroute it from A to B.

There has to be 1 or 2 people in each of those dealers that knows something about the 2017s. Chances are it's not a salesperson nor a manager. Unless they're as interested in a T4R as we all are. I'll let you know once they show up in our regular programs because then everyone will be able to give you the same info.

2017 TRD PRO has a base msrp of $42,400 + DPH and any options or accessories. Price increased 1.3% compared to the 2016.
Just got this info on December 1st.

This reflects what my sales person told me earlier this week. He said it would likely be another 2 weeks before his system showed my truck, but the inventory manager told him my order was allocated and would be coming in January.

I didn't have to put down a deposit, but I have a relationship with the salesman from a prior purchase. I told him I didn't want anything added to base truck and I wanted white. He said that wouldn't be a problem. We haven't spoken about price yet, but I know his dealership doesn't do ADMs because I asked. I figured since I have a trade it really does no good getting to worried about price just yet. If I can't get a deal I feel is fair I will just walk.

I bought 3 Tacoma's 1 rav4 and 1 4runner from them, all I told them was I wanted cement. I emailed him a couple weeks ago and he said nothing allocated yet. I will stop by tomorrow on the way home from the academy and find out what is up. As for the no refunds... my bank does not play by those rules whatsoever

I guess every dealership does it differently. I actually bought a LC 200 from my salesman when he was working at a different local dealership. When I decided to get a TRD Pro I remembered he had emailed me about changing dealerships so I reached out to him and placed my order.

I have placed orders in the past where the dealer asked for a deposit and I was always told the deposit was refundable. I think they would have a hard time keeping your money if you don't take delivery.

I've read posts on here to contradict that. But anyone who places an order should have a written sales agreement, with all the details, signed by a manager - to do otherwise is foolish and just bad business.

I agree that it would all come down to the legal wording of a signed sales agreement. Two cars I ordered, a Nissan GT-R and a Camaro ZL-1, were done over the phone and the deposits were placed on a credit card. I never signed anything. I ended up cancelling the Camaro order and I got a refund that day. My guess is a lot of orders are done without an iron clad contract being signed.

Not sure how it is in other states but at least here in Illinois every deposit is refundable. I know there's dealers out there that will play games with your money and it may take multiple attempts to get a deposit back but they have no right keeping a deposit even if it's written out as "non-refundable". You don't take delivery of a car there's nothing they can do.

In my area there are so many 2016 4runners sitting on the lots.

Sure seems like Toyota is going to need to offer some incentives to move current 4runner inventory if the 17s are coming next month? They are giving away all other vehicles as it is with 0% financing and huge discounts off MSRP.
