almost got my hands on a white TRD pro until i found out the dealer was asking for 54K + tax. hell f'n no! in what world do you think someone is going to pay 10K over MSRP?! and when i countered with MSRP + tax, they said someone is offering 5K over MSRP. well go sell it to that person then! tryna play this stupid bidding game to see who pays more!? F off! [emoji35]

for that price, i might as well get a trail premium and drop 10K worth of mods!

2017 Super White Premium with 3rd Row, Running boards, and sunroof

I took delivery of my 2017 Super White Premium Package with 3rd Row Seating and Running Boards last Friday, January 13th 2017 (I know, Friday the 13th, and I worried all the way home until I parked it in the garage)
Paid $37,500 Out the Door. This included everything, Fees, tag, taxes, etc.etc.
Total price.

Wifey loves the heated power seats.
Already in process of adding accessories that I did not want to pay dealer prices for.

Dealer mark ups have been around forever, and they are free to charge whatever they think they can sell it at for a profit. A 5/10K markup is nothing.

I've seen everything from a $200K markup for a F82 M4 GTS...to a 10K markup on a Hyundai Veloster Turbo. A Hyundai. Veloster.

There are PLENTY of dealers who have a a policy where they won't charge anything over MSRP. Trust me, call around and you'll find that out real quick.

There are lots of people with more money than they know what to responsibly do with it. They see it, they want it, they buy it. They don't have the time/patience to scour the nation to save a few bucks (to them). It's those that are going to buy those marked up ones. Do your homework, do your research and buy what you feel comfortable paying for.

Good post. All true coming from someone who did pay markup last year for a 2016 and I was fine with it because I didn't want to play even more games to find one without markup. The markup is somewhat negotiable in my experience.

I highly doubt many folks paid 10K for mark up. There does come a point in some peoples lives where time is more valuable than money and dicking around with sales people/shops/vendors become more of a headache than overpaying to just be done with it (for the most part).

Man, I've had my eye on a TRDP for a while now but jeez, the whole process of trying to secure one is a bit much. (Not to mention the price gouguing!)

I was thinking of doing the TEP conversion thingy, but now with the OffRoadPro being so garish in all it's *labeling* I'm not really sure what to do. It's been said to many times by so many others, but damn the way Toyota deals with orders is just ridiculous.

Why can't I just order a discreet TEP/OffRoadPro with the factory TRDPro lift, wheels and dual climate controls with no sunroof? Still loving my '07 Tacoma, but my interest in the T4R is quickly waning....

Glad I bought my '16 TEP w/KDSS to convert into a 'TRD Trail' before the TRD name was further diluted by the 2017 'Off Road' versions.

You will not get KDSS and TRD pro suspension together , it does not work.
KDSS is for street , TRD pro with the bilsteins is off road.

Not everyone has a hard-on for KDSS.

I think " hard-on " may be kind of harsh to describe the way people feel about something that offer them better on and off road handling.

People that are even the slightest bit handy can take a Trail Premium with KDSS and make it a better Pro for less money than a Pro.

None of my business what someone else wants to do with their money but the lack of KDSS made getting a trail instead of a Pro a no brainer for many.

Of course you can do it, it can be done but that doesn't mean it's supposed to be , which is why Toyota does not offer it from the factory that way. Over the years I've posted detailed information as to why KDSS is street oriented design not Off-road. Which is why it was never offered on the FJ cruiser or any of the TRD pro models. But it is offered on the Lexus mall cruiser.
In short putting a suspension kit on with KDSS is like putting a lift kit on with the stock shocks. The KDSS cylinders are the limiting factor , also the increased stroke from the longer travel suspension causes the KDSS system to overheat the oil starts to foam and the sway bars lose their effectiveness. Toyota is not stupid they do not combine these options for a reason

Is that a technical term?

The only reason it is what it is is because Toyota's marketing folks decided so. If what you were saying were true, every KDSS-equipped vehicle that had been lifted or had shocks changed out would have a problem. What they 'offer from the factory' is not in any way relevant in this case, except perhaps for the fact that the asymmetrical front TRD shocks aren't 'perfect' for KDSS vehicles. But that can be easily dealt with in several different ways, especially if one is aware of the issue in advance.
