Question for all members with Bilstein 6112.
Have you installed a top plate spacer while on the very top notch?
hows the ride and what top plate spacer did you use?

I love the ride quality on the 6112s I'm wondering if adding a top plate spacer (1/4") will effect the ride. I want to try to net 3" vs the 2.5" on the top notch.

Thank you all in advance for any information you can provide!

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question but I was searching for how harsh the ride is when maxed out to the top setting.

I see that you love the ride on the top notch so I guess that means preloading the spings that much didn't make the ride harsh?

Still not that bad. I only have 2000 miles on the setup and havent taken her out all that much but it still soaks up large 'bumps' and what not.

I've still havent added the spacers but when I do I'll let you know.

I am going to install some 1/4" top plate spacers I have sitting around so I can get a little more out of the front. I am at 7/6 (2.5") right now and it does not match up to my t-13's in the rear like i'd like it to. I will let you know my result after I am finished.

Any update on how much lift that spacer gave you? Thinking abiut getting a 1/2 inch and bring preload all the way down.

how'd it go? Did you have to get extended studs?

dang that sounds like a good idea too. maybe i should go this route instead if i have to get extended studs on the 1/4 spacer.

From my reading, the half inch spacer comes with longer studs for the 1/2" spacer on Wheeler's website. I don't think the 1/4" needs extended studs. I've thought it through. I could buy two 1/4" spacers and longer studs separately and play with heights of I wanted to combine them. But it's cheaper to just get the half inch and I'm sure I'll want it for my desired height range.

Hey guys, the spacers work without extended studs but if I were going to use them long term I would probably just get them. I am way too OCD to not overthink this scenario.

That said, I ended up not installing them. I have an Expedition-1 rear bumper on the way. This will certainly level the Runner out while also accounting for the driver side lean (the tire carrier hangs off of the passenger side).

My brother and I have been using 1/2” spacers on top of our 6112’s for 6 months with no issues. No extended studs. I do check all the bolts monthly or after hard wheeling. The ride is good but have never not had the spacers to compare.

Just wanted to let you know I put my 1/2" spacer on the driver side and it gave me an exact 3/4" of lift. Currently sitting now at 22" hub to fender (2.5" of lift), with the top plate spacer and the clip on #3.

Passenger per side is still at clip #1 and no spacer and it's giving me 21.75" hub to fender (2.25" of lift).

Hopefully this can give you and idea with 650# coils vs my 700s.

thanks for all the great info! i think the least amount of effort would be to just add a spacer at this point. if i do plan on adding more weight i'll just upgrade to adjustable coilovers to make life easier.

Man this is complicated, help me understand.

So you installed the clips at 1 on the passengers side and 3 on the drivers side which is what Bilstein says to do to reduce/eliminate the lean. But you still needed another 1/2" top spacer to remove the lean?

Is that just because you are running 700# springs?

I was hoping I could run 600# standard springs with both sides set on the 3rd clip and take care of the lean with one 1/2" top spacer on the drivers side.(non-KDSS)

Thanks!

I have 6112 both at the top notch with 1/4" spacer on top of it. I also have the OME trim spacer on top of my SAW d/s rear spring. Both sides are 23" hub to fender. Very happy with results. I will post a pic in a few mins
