I have an intermediate and it fits behind the middle row of seats. The large will fit with the middle row in place but sideways. My dog is a small Australian Shepherd.

Gunner Kennels
Sorry if this isn't in the right place- we currently have an FJCruiser- that we love but it simply isn't big enough to fit 2 Gunner Kennels, one a Large and one an Intermediate.
Does anyone know if that combo can squeeze into gen 5 4Runner?
We were in a very bad accident 2 years ago (not in the FJ) where the best dog in entire world was killed. Didn't take us but a few minutes to decide dogs that own us will only ride in Gunner Kennels- don't ever want to go through that again.
I'm trying avoid dragging our kennels to a dealer to see if they'll fit.
Was going to attach a photo of the pair but I can't get any down to the 137K limit to do so...

We have Cattle Dog/ Staffordshire Terrier mix. She is very smart and athletic. At a bit over 40 lbs she can just about do a back flip.
However, she does not travel well. It's not the breed it's the personality. Like humans each dog is unique when it comes to getting car sick.
We have taken her on short rides and she has gotten so excited that she puked. So not it's Benadryl and a crate for anything over 30 mins.

Be glad Benadryl works. Our Shepherdoodle at 11 months requires Cerenia to control vomiting in the car. But even though it stops that she drools like crazy when riding. Excess drooling is a stress indicator.
Cerenia is prescription only and $10 a pill and can't be used more than 2 days in a row. Bummer when our trips out west take 3-4 days to just get there.
We have our fingers crossed she'll outgrow it.
UPDATE- now using Trazadone prescribed by the vet- so far it has been the best solution for car sickness for our Shepherdoodle. Problem is she is a zombie into the next day. Oh well- we can live with that- just still hope she'll outgrow the car sick thing someday.

Great thread. Have a 9 year old ridgeback that can barely make the jump into the back depending on the angle
Also, just picked up a dog cover for the backseat at Costco for $20 last weekend. Haven't tried it but it looked good and the price was great. I'm sure it will be used eventually. This was at the South Austin location. (also saw a cool army green 4 runner in the lot, first I've seen live)

I had started a thread earlier about AC in the back and got some "so-so" responses, but I'm not sure if it owners had dogs - especially bigger dogs.
So, does the AC keep a pooch comfy in the back?
Maybe there is something wrong with me for factoring that into the purchasing decision, but I doubt it.
And yes, does a large gunner crate fit in the back?

This is great. I did this on my sliders, but should have given some on the back for the dog. Thanks!
My dog, 70 lb English Cream Retriever, absolutely loves my (his) 4Runner. He wants back window down so the A/C isn’t a big factor for him. I live in Texas so in August & September when temp is over 90 we don’t transport him in heat of the day.
I do not use a crate so I’m not sure what size fits.
I have a dog cover for the rear section that has an extension to cover rear bumper when dog enters/exits to protect bumper.

Thanks. About the same size dog. The back window is a real advantage that would probably work most of the time, but she goes with us most every time - so winter and summer.
