For those of you that have dogs!

I had started a thread earlier about AC in the back and got some "so-so" responses, but I'm not sure if it owners had dogs - especially bigger dogs.

So, does the AC keep a pooch comfy in the back?

Maybe there is something wrong with me for factoring that into the purchasing decision, but I doubt it.

And yes, does a large gunner crate fit in the back?

Turns out a Gunner large WILL fit in the back! IF you don't have the slide out tray. The extra height from the tray will not let the large Gunner go in.

With no tray installed you can fit an intermediate crossways and the large front to back-

What I do re cooling> I made some brackets to hold a pair of 12V muffin fans blowing air into the vent slots on the Gunners. Keeping the air circulating helps a lot on keeping the mutts cool.

Great dogs. Probably what I'd get if I didn't have a GSD. A bit more rambunctious than a GSD so your furniture and shoes may take more of a beating.

They are amazing dogs that love to work and please. If you have time to work with them, even just teaching them new tricks or playing ball they are great.

Mine has been fantastic with all kids, can be obsessive over balls or toys to the point where they just keep dropping it at your feet but if you enjoy playing fetch it's not a problem.

Just make sure you have a way to get them exercise and you will love them.

I also have a BC and they will require a lot of your attention to keep them happy. They are high maintenance dogs that require a lot of exercise, so if you cant dedicate the time to one, i wouldnt recommend them at all as you will end up with a headcase of a dog.

Ours has been a great dog overall, but when we moved to our latest home as my wife was preg with our first child, he self-assigned protecting the house as his job. We have to be very careful with strangers now and must ensure that he cant get out when the mail or packages are being delivered. We've had some 'incidents' to date, but he is great with our infant, friends, their kids, and neighbors (that he likes, at least).

TLDR: Not beginner dogs, don't get one unless you have the time to invest in one and have a good sized yard.

This is pretty spot on. i have an acre of land and free range my chickens in our yard. Our BC keeps busy all day protecting the herd and herding our kids when they are playing outside. If you have room and time to exercise them they can be great, if you aren't up for that I definitely wouldn't recommend them as a pet since they do much better with regular exercise.

The factory Gunner fan is $229. Unless you need battery operation I probably spent $25 max on the one I made. There is NO way theirs is worth anymore than $100 and personally I'd no pay that much- not when a functional fan is so easily made.

I haven't done anything special, ever since he was a pup he's loved water. He always chases the water when I water the lawn too. Getting him in the water is not a problem, it's is getting him out of the water that I struggle with.

Same in my house. My gsd can't have a stuffed toy without ripping it apart in 5 minutes. So he only gets Kongs, chuckit balls, and other rubber style toys. Favorite is the DNA style toy off amazon.

The weenie on the left also eats rubber/plastic. We've tried the black Kong and he still chews it apart and I find it out in the yard later in the week.
