For those of you with Aftermarket bumpers that have cut the front plate off.......

Curious if anyone has used this plate system from Addicted. Any chance anyone has some detailed shots with it mounted up to a non Addicted Bumper?
Interested in adding it to my front end with my ODL.

near the end is where i installed my bumper and just left the caps off with frame open. also by adding my bumper i installed the mounting bracket. its really stiff, more than that bracket. but thats comparing apples to oranges. .02

Those of you with ODL bumpers did you reinforce the frame or just run it as you received it? Ive got some serious concerns under heavy winching that it will hold up.

The link you posted says it fits 86-95 not 3rd gens.

I didn't use a kit like that but if you look in my build thread you can see where we welded 1/4" plate steel to the end of my frame rail to create a bolt to point for my bumper. While it doesn't create a welded cross beam between the frame rails, I think with the front bumper solidly bolted on it recreates the same reinforcement to the frame in my case.

Did yours come with the extra bracket that bolts to the bottom two tow hook mounts and goes around the inside for extra support. I was told when I installed the bumper if I plan to wench to use that bracket. I have pulled an old grand Cherokee wagon about 100 feet up a steep hill and the bumper did move slightly but I loosened it up when I got home and it fell back in to place. I was considering finding a piece of heavy gauge rectangle tubing and sliding it in to the frame and plug welding it in a bunch of spots.

X2 i felt the design of my bumper was suffice and acted as a crossmember when bolted on ,i also chose a piece of 1/4"for a mount plate .

Yes my bumper did come with the brackets you mention. I am using them and have used the winch a time or two, no movement, but both seemed to be short pulls to to get over or off a rock ledge. No long serious strain put to it yet. I like the idea of internally sleeving the frame, just have to see what that leave for welding locations. I do think a new cross member is in order soon, maybe replacing the existing crossbar the skid plate bolts too. Mines bent anyhow.

Same here initially, but after seeing some serious pulls i just dont know how it would hold up. I presume you have the ODL bumper?
Whether it moves the bumper or bends it just due to the sheer force those winches have.

What your talking about is a frame stiffener for a pre 96 runner or pre95 taco. The stock mounting is a bar that runs across the front. This is not needed with the addicted bumpers as they come with a crossmember that is 1/4" iirc.
