a locked 2wd under off camber rocks can get up that #### before a 4x4 with stock tires hence yours could even try, youd destroy a CV before you got half way up.

so why couldn't i just leave mine in 2wd and lock my rear diff? Look, you keep trying to over-glorify your rig by saying it can beat a 4x4 in certain situations. You only mentioned one situation, and barely even a viable one at that. I'm sure low range in my superior transfer case would make a much smoother ride up the off camber rocks than your one speed 2wd. None of my previous comments were snide. So keep your comments to yourself until you complete your 4x4 conversion. You bought a 2wd 4runner, lifted it, and took it off road. Whoopedy doo.

im not gonna take sides or whatever but i will say i do not think a 2wd would be "more" capable than a 4wd in most any situation, if not all.

a 4wd will break a cv under a few conditions, namely:
-a lot of throttle with the wheels turned heavily
-heavy off camber, where you might actually tip

usually though you will rip a boot, causing the grease to come flying out which isnt a big problem and can actually go a long time w out being fixed.

now, if i was doing offcamber rock crawling (which i have done a lot of mind you) i would take my locked 4wd over a 2wd any day. a 2wd will need to use more throttle to get the fronts where the rears want to be....and in a rocky situation id rather not have to use more pedal than less.

now after a month of waiting, I finally got my shipping confirmation for my ome shocks. I got the springs a couple of weeks ago, but the shocks were back ordered. I should have the lift installed possibly this weekend. I also ordered 1.25" top spacers and 4 - 5mm trim packers to level out the front. I'll post the before, install and after pics. I've got my eye on some procomp xterrains or maybe some baja claws to complete the job.
