Forever Black Pictorial and initial impressions

So after many on the forum gave me glowing testimonials on Forever black, I decided I'd give it a try. Took lots of pics to share. My intent was to only do the front flares as a test, but that quickly got out of hand. Here is what my flares looked like before I started.

So I mixed a small amount of cleaner, using 1 pt of water and 1/2 ounce of the supplied cleaner to get the ration of 4 ounces to one gallon. I taped off the flares and started cleaning.

Well this was just a mess. I washed my truck this morning and I was getting the solution on the rims, the running boards, the front bumper, AND the fender. I quickly decided it was better, and it turns out easier just to remove them. Only 4 tools needed.

I cleaned them again and then started applying the die.

You can see a huge difference with just the first coat. Here below is one coat dry on a front flare compared to a "clean" rear flare

So in between coats I took the rest of the flares off.

Big fish all day said to apply 3 coats, so did. The product when on pretty evenly using the supplied foam applicator. Didn't put much on at any one time, it flashed and dried in 10 minutes.

So once I had applied 3 coats to all the flares, I reinstalled them.

Obviously they make the running board end caps look really bad. I will have to do these and the rear bumper extensions next.

So overall I would have to say it was $15 dollars well spent. The only place that sells it in my neck of the woods is 4WheelParts, and I hate, hate, hate going there. Did I mention I hate that place? Bunch of arrogant wannabe 4 wheelers who think because they sell granpa a lift kit for his jeep that will never see dirt they know all about 4 wheeling. Pffft.
But I digress....

I'll update this in time to see how the stuff holds up, but so far I like it.

I have used it on my Wife's Saab and it has looked great since i redid all the trim about six months ago. Six months in the desert sun is enough to impress me for only $15, I ordered mine through my Amazon Prime account. Fu*k 4WPs
